The Story of Lucky & Chance
Lucky was advertised in the bird club's newsletter for free with a cage. When we got him he was pretty dirty and very scared of people, we aren't sure what happened to him, but with lots of work he calmed down a lot and gained trust in us. Ironically, when we looked at his band to record the numbers we discovered that he was a baby of Barb's Bird World, so we were able to get his birthdate and learn about his parents (turns out he is a sibling of Tweety). We tried to find him a girlfriend so he wouldn't be so lonely, but he didn't like anyone... that is until he met Chance. Then it was instant love.
Chance came from a group of birds that we bought from Exclusively Parrots in Ithaca, NY. We brought her home without the intension of keeping her because we didn't need 10 new birds at the time. Things change, when I saw how Lucky instantly bonded to her, we had to keep her.

Many of these pictures show Chance and Lucky in a baby tank. The reason for this is that about mid-May, we saw that she wasn't using her foot. We are not sure what happened, but we put her on heat and a few days later she looked depressed so we put Lucky in with her. She looks to be doing a little better. She perchs some on her food dishes and on a "baby" perch that we made. In the below picture you can see how she is holding her foot on the left side. If you have any suggestions to further help her progress, please email me.

UPDATE
Chance unexpectedly died on June 14. I am very upset as it was the first bird Lucky really took to. When Chance hurt her foot, she was sitting on 2 fertile eggs, Lucky & Chance had one Female Creamino (Miracle) together who was born on June 6. Sadly, she too died on June 18. Thank you to Barb's Bird World for fostering Chance & Lucky's eggs & caring for the babies as you did.
