Director of Literary Services, Sandra Nordgren (see bio at the end of the webpage) initiated, developed, and implements the New Works Reading Series. This series provides a forum for up-and-coming playwrights, composers, and lyricists to develop their work. The play or musical is directed by directors from 13th Street Repertory Company's Directors Unit and performed by members of the repertory. There is feedback in a Q & A after the reading. Most of the works in this reading series are published in The New York Theatre Experience's Plays and Playwrights anthologies. They are among the best new plays and musicals reviewed during the past nine years by Martin Denton and his nytheatre.com, one of the country's largest and prestigious theatre websites. For a brief synopsis of each play in the 2007 anthology: http://www.nyte.org
Other scripts are from the New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest and scripts from selected playwrights.
