PRECIOUS MEMORIES!
Darryl Keith Kimbrel
Loved and sadly missed by many!
God took you from us,
Our wonderful loving son, nephew, cousin, and friend.
You took part of our hearts with you,
But you will remain in our hearts forever.
You will remain with us the rest of our lives
As one of our most precious angels.

On November 21, 1999, a very tragic thing happened to the lives of Denny and Johnnie Kimbrel.  Early that morning their son, Darryl, was driving down the road never realizing that his life was at an end. He was killed Sunday Morning in a wreck at the Cox Creek Parkway- Florence Boulevard intersection. Darryl was eastbound on Florence Boulevard and had the green light, when his 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier was hit by a 1989 Toyota Camry driven by George H. Soule II, 28, 214 Breckenridge Court, Florence, Alabama. The accident happened at 6:37 A.M., and Kimbrel was pronounced dead at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital within half an hour. Soule was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released. Homicide investigators were at the scene of the accident. Evidence later proved that Soule was driving while under the influence of crack cocaine and a prescription medication.

On February 23, 2000, family members of Darryl Kimbrel received news that they had been hoping for. Police arrested George Soule and charged him with murder and driving under the influence of drugs.  "Oh my God; you just don't know," Kimbrel's father, Denny said, "It's been such a burden to us. He was our only kid. Our lives have been destroyed."

Our prayers were answered on Thursday, August 25, 2000, after the jury deliberated for about 3 1/2 hours, and came back with a verdict for George Soule II..... GUILTY of MURDER and DUI! Soule's sentencing date is set for October 12, 2000. He will remain in the Lauderdale County Detention Center until sentencing. Soule faces 10-99 years or life in prison with the possibility of parole, does not have any prior felony convictions.  The jury had the option of convicting Soule of manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide as a felony or a misdemeanor, but I thank them all and I thank God for the fact that they looked at all the evidence and made the right conviction. God bless you all, like he has done to me, allowing me to be a part of Darryl's life, even though it was a small part. I will never forget him or any of those precious memories.
