MUSIC LISTS

Below are lists of my own personal favorite artists, individual recordings from different years, decades, and other sub-categories. These lists are entirely based on my own personal opinion of the artists and the recordings, without regard to popularity or any other outside factors.

Each list is ranked in order starting with # 1, which is my top favorite artist/recording in that particular grouping.

I'll start out here with a list of my all time favorite recording artists, ranked in order from # 1 down to # 100. This list is much more difficult to do, and much more subject to change, than a simple ranking of individual recordings. There are a lot more factors to take into account when ranking the entire works of an artist, such as, did he change styles often (Ray Charles, for instance) and did you like those changes, or did he maintain the same style throught his entire career (Jimmy Reed, for instance) and did you want him to try something different after a while. Other factors come into play, like longevity, musical integrity, and also whether or not an artist that did a lot of material that you really like also did a lot of material that you thought was bad (like Elvis, for example). Some of these artists are still recording, which could have an effect (good or bad) on their ranking too. These rankings are subject to change at any time.
