Real Estate – Staging the Landscape to Assist in Residential and Commercial Sales
First impressions are lasting impressions.  A new sod lawn, seasonal flowers – Pansies  and cool season plants in the spring, annuals in the summer, Mums and kale in the fall are inexpensive enhancements that stop the eyes and add a measure organization and completeness to homes for sale.  Perhaps existing foundation plants on older homes are over-grown, failing or simply have lost their specimen qualities.  We have the ways and means to offer low-budget landscape planning solutions for the enhancement of homes sales.

Back Yard Design
Some clients seek professional advice of how to maximize the outdoor use of their yards.  Patios, sitting areas, pools, arbors, pergolas, gardens, water features, swimming pools, sunning areas, shaded sitting areas are simply some of the concepts we develop with the homeowner to best maximize the use of their back yard landscapes.

On-Site Training in Cost Effective and Technically Appropriate Landscape Grounds Management
A two hour presentation for property managers, maintenance managers and condominium owners and managers.  We discuss the best and most effective way to manage your landscape based on the existing conditions of the site.  We discuss seasonal grass mowing, over-seeding/soding requirements, fertilizer requirements and seasonal lime and insect controls.  Fall and spring cleanup issues are discussed along with the costs associated with mulching, edging, hand-pruning and summer shearing.  Tree and shrub replacement, warranties, plants best suited for their locations and extending the flowering season of woody plants are also discussed.  The presentation involves examples of both good and bad landscapes with a slide show presentation reinforcing those concepts and a question and answer period and final wrap-up.

Front Yard Design
Some homeowners seek assistance in improving the front yard and  the foundation plantings of their homes.  A newly constructed addition to a house is a triggering event that oftentimes throws off the balance and symmetry of the appearance of the home.  Sometimes plantings are old and tired in the front of the home or have been in place for over 20 years and are simply in need of replacement.  Which plants to choose from, what is the final layout and design of entrance walkways, fencing and how does  the front lawn relates to the surrounding neighborhood are issues we are concerned with as part of the design and planning process.

Guest Speaker:
We offer a wide- range of lectures offered to corporations, community groups and owners/managers of commercial properties. A sampling of topics include 'Flowescaping to Extend Seasonal Color in New England Homes', 'Perennials for the Backyard Gardener', ' 'Insect and Disease Plant Problems in Suburban Neighborhoods' are only a few of the ideas for your local group. Call us to discuss how we may tailor a specifically designed talk for your group.

"Walk and Talks" with Homeowner:
We will schedule an on-site visit to your residence, walk the property with you and sit down at the comfort of your kitchen table answering a variety of questions concerning any landscaping matters you may have at your home.  Some clients are do-it-yourself types and are simply looking for landscape design ideas and are interested in brain-storming concepts or seeking simple planting recommendations such as patio, wall or pool locations.  Some homeowners may have a need for something as simple as which plant is best suited for important privacy screening along a property line or what perennial flowers are suited best for your yard.  These folks are able to run with the creative ideas presented in our meeting and either do the work or schedule contractors themselves to provide the work at a later date.
Other clients may need help with horticultural matters such as lawn improvement, insect or disease issues on shrubs and trees or replacement plants best suited for their yard.  We have the ability, if you so desire, to connect you with a range of green industry professionals able to assist with any of the issues encountered.  A "walk and talk" may also lead into a more serious discussion with a homeowner concerning the need for a full- blown Landscape Master Plan for the house as part of a property 'remake'. In any of these cases the "Walk and Talk" meeting usually lasts between one and one half hours.
As part of the cost for the "walk and talk", we will mail you the meeting notes in a one page summary listing plant names, sizes, potential vendors, critical issues discussed and then recommendations as to where to find those goods and services. One vendors even offer discounts for plant purchases resulting from such "walks and talks". Call or email us for further information. SCefco@AOl.com

Koi Pond Design:
The current trend in home landscaping design is the use of water features employing aquatic plants, wetlands wildlife and exotic fish.  Pond design and installation has proliferated over the past 5 years while the industry has responded with better products, simplification of systems and lowered costs, making it now possible for everyone so interested to enjoy this new art form, no matter how small or large their outdoor area. We have worked with pond systems ranging on average from a pond as small as 3' x 5' or 10' x 20'  to even larger designs for the home backyard and commercial landscapes.  A water feature incorporates many landscape design issues that need to be  thought through such as location, shape, depth, aquatic plant selection, filtering, fish selection, winterization, orientation, planting surrounding the pond and many visual and esthetic matters as well. Typically, at the first homeowner meeting, we discuss client needs, present and future use of the space, location, pond design options, privacy, screening, and as range of functional and esthetic considerations that may be dictated by the uniqueness of the site.  A preliminary design is then developed with a second meeting held on site with the homeowner to discuss the pond design, along with approximate cost estimates.  We will make any design alterations at this time based on your input and considerations.   A third meeting is then arranged with the final design being presented at that time.  Once the pond is designed, if required we can assist you with locations for purchasing aquatic products and services and/or provide you with vendors capable of installing pond systems. Call or email us for further information. SCefco@AOl.com

Waterfall and Water Design:
Waterfeatures in the landscape originated as far back in time as history allows.  Notable examples of water designs were best represented in Roman, Moorish and Western European gardens.  The idea of water garden design and implementation today has never been easier primarily based on the abundance of readily available, low cost materials and ease of construction.  Any homeowner today who regularly uses their outdoor yard space for gardening or uses their landscape for simple rest and relaxation is in store for an entire new world of exciting possibilities with the addition of a water feature.  The sound of water falling over flat rocks, the gurgling of water along an intricately designed runnel, the sound of a single trickle of water or the simplicity of a reflective moment in a still water pond excites the imagination and, we feel, adds an extra, positive dimension to one's own existence. A water feature in your yard is dictated by many factors.  Our first meeting with you, the client, attempts to realize the potential of the space and the maximization of the water feature for your ultimate enjoyment. Considerations such as viewing orientation, space size, sound effects, plant selection, design consideration, cost, maintenance and access to the water feature need to be explored with the homeowner.  A second meeting in which the preliminary design is presented is then held.  Any recommendations to the preliminary design are modified, expanded, or deleted at this time.  A third and final meeting is held to present the completed plan which will be drawn at a scale that any competent landscape contractor can bid, will note plant types and sizes and approximate cost estimates.  Once the water feature is designed and the final plan presented we will, if required, assist you in locating products, services and contractors capable of installing your water feature. As an extra service we offer site visits during the construction process to monitor and advise the client.  Call or email us for further information. SCefco@AOl.com
