72  MAVERICK
We bought this car new March of '72 in Memphis, Tn.  May 11, '72, a lady ran a "Stop" sign and almost tore off the front-end, as you can see.
It had a 200-6, C-4 automatic, whitewalls, & AM radio.
As time passed, my wife got a new car and it was given to my son as his first car. He too had a wreck and had it repainted black.
More time passed. After he got out of the Army, he had it repainted back blue. After he got married, it came back to me. It sat in the back yard a couple of years. I found the Maverick Comet Club International online one night and it got me interested in restoring "Ole Blue."
The first thing I did was get it back into running condition. I repaired the drum brakes front and rear, tuned the engine, and re-did the steering and front suspension.
By then I had decided to get more serious. Granada disc brakes came next. I bought another Maverick, the white Sprint pictured below, and took the engine, transmission, and rearend out of it to put it in the blue car after rebuilding them. The 302 V-8 is bored .040 over, with a mild cam, 4 barrel Edelbrock carb and Air-Gap manifold. The transmission has a shift kit and modified valve body in it with the shifter moved to the floor.
I've started drag racing it and plan to do more modifications .
The above picture is about how it looks today.  While our son was in Iraq he aquired the nickname "Big Country." So in his honor I put BCR for Big Country Racing on the doors.
We have another engine in it now, not the one pictured.

We got this one in the summer of 2002. It's a 76, 200-6, automatic, PS, Power discs, w/air. I couldn't wait to finish the blue car before starting on this one. It is our Saturday night cruiser. We got it repainted the summer of 2003 and redid the interior in 2004.  I took the engine from the blue car and installed it in this one this past winter, 2006.
