with David Heyes, founder and director of the British and International Bass Forum. He was my roomie and co-juror in Kromeriz. The BIBF puts out a great newsletter--for further information (recommended) contact:

We had a bow conference in our room in Kromeriz--
with Heyes speaking/demonstrating about Posta's techniques/thoughts--(he studied with Posta), Ping discussing Streicherisms, Chris and Mikey discussing Gajdošisms, and yours truly discussing my experiences at Juilliard, the MET, CSO, Lyric/COT and recording work--essentially relaying thoughts of Zimmermann/Morgan/Guastafeste/Glazener/Teiko/O'Brien/Zibits/Reid/Sarchet etc.......

Closing evening concert in Debrecen. "Per Questa Bella Mano" (Mozart), with Daniel Lajcsik, and Katy Sarkady. I played a Barnabas Racz bass that was less than one week old. A great orchestra bass already, highly recommended. A beast!

with Radoslav Šašina, former Gajdoš pupil, panelist in Kromeriz and Debrecen. An incredible artist. Šašina is coming to Chicago in late October 98! Email for latest info

Needless to say, we had to go to London a few days early for sightseeing. Here I am with Chris Kreiling at the Tower of London, with the Tower Bridge in the background. Later that day, we were able to hit a Cyber-Cafe, and chat live with his mother!

The sound of Big Ben is remarkable! Chris Kreiling and Jeremy Miller.

We 'queued up' for a Proms concert, and caught the BBC Symphony playing Rite of Spring. These traditional concerts, (104 years going), require the audience to literally stand in the center arena for the concert. We did not realize that ,after a day of sightseeing, our feet would be KILLING US!

I was delighted to hook up with Mark Morton, (Principal Bass, Columbus Ohio) a classmate from Juilliard. What a classy guy, and he plays the heck out of the bass-beautifully!
Be sure and check out his books and the American School of Double Bass
