Latest News!

The Kamloops Ice Dogs showed up with a much better hockey team last weekend, taking two games straight from the Indians. The Indians traveled to Kamloops, BC with a short bench road crew. Dale Gibbon injured his knee early in the first game and Richard Flake was taken out later in the third period by a wicked slash to the ankle. The Ice Dogs took the first game 6-1 in a game that was clearly dominated throughout by Kamloops. Indian's netminder Terry Ralston, had to come up big to keep the game close.

Despite missing two players for game 2, the game was close until late in the third, when the Ice Dogs broke open their 4-2 lead, to finish the game at 7-2. The Indians were missing many key players on this trip, including all-star defensemen Brian Bruininks and Tyler Johnson. Also missing were team captain Chris DeLeone, Dave Bonenko, Quinton Ray, Bryan Gowen and Butch Schropshire. We plan to get Kamloops back down to Seattle later this season to have a real rematch when both teams have their full squads. The tentative date is March 25/26 and should be confirmed by next week. Both teams will be heading to their respective championship tournaments the following week.

Next up for the Indians is a trip to Jackson Hole, WY, to play the Moose. This has become a hot rivalry over the past couple of years. The only real road trip the Moose made all year, was to visit the Indians where we split the weekend series.

While away on our Jackson Hole trip last season, I kept a diary of sorts of the event to share with you, what it's like to go on an Indians road trip. From the initial planning to the travel, hockey games and entertainment. Trips like this are the highlight of the season for senior hockey teams, next to the Nationals of course!

The Seattle Indians are starting their 40th season as a senior men's hockey team. After a slow start to the previous season, the team had it's best finish in the US National Championship, placing second! The Indian's have traveled both the USA and Canada over the past 1/2 century providing quality hockey competition and entertainment wherever they travel. The team was originally started with the help and guidance of Andy Anderson. Andy was a prominent hockey figure throughout the United States. Andy passed away two years ago. He was inducted into the Seattle Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.

I recently found an interesting page on the history of hockey equipment and safety in the game of hockey on the San Jose Sharks page.

We are a member of the Northwest Amateur Hockey Association and we are a USA sanctioned hockey team. The Indians  have participated in the US Nationals 10 of the last 12 years and won the nationals back in 1981.

We look forward to finishing a great year  This year's schedule included teams such as the , Jackson Hole Moose, the Sun Valley Suns,  the Salt Lake City Korth Rebels, the Williams Lake Stampeders, Eugene Ice Hawks, Wenatchee Gold, Powell River Regals and the New Westminster Beavers.  New teams on the grid this year are the Tacoma Stars and the Portland Royals,  and the season will be capped off with a trip again to the US Senior National Championship in Fond du Lac, WI

Here's the  the 1998/99 team schedule. The 1998/99 Player Roster is complete and updated. Here are the 1998/99 player statistics.

Janet Klinkhachorn has done a cute job researching the history of hockey. Check it out for fun.

There's lots of hockey out there on the horizon for the Indians. Bookmark this page to keep in touch  for future plans for the 1999/2000 season.
