HEY! Don't keep important stuff to yourself. If you know, heard and/or seen something of interest concerning OGRE, please email me with details so that I can post them here.

IT's ALIVE!"

This is my first attempt at publishing on the web, so don't expect much in the way of bells and whistles. Java and Active X? Look elsewhere bucko. Frames? We don't need no stinkin' frames! But if you're looking for pictures, scenarios, new units and new rules (all totally unofficial, of course) for OGRE/G.E.V. and OGRE Miniatures, you've come to the right spot.

If you don't know what OGRE is all about, go to the "What's this?" section right now to get a quick education. If you are already an OGRE fan, welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy this site. Be sure to check back every month as I hope to keep the site updated on at least that basis.

OGRE Macrotures will be at Megacon
Friday, Feb. 28, 2003
in Orlando, FL

  • Hmm. Nearly a year since my last update. No, you didn't miss it. That update below (April 2) was never posted. Soooo, what's my excuse? None. I've been facing a difficult time in my life (insert backround sound of violins here) and updating this site has, quite frankly, not been at the top of my list. Which is a real pity, because some of the best material for OGRE has been coming out this last year. Steve Jackson Games has been cranking out miniatures like candy. For a complete listing of available minis (and other cool OGRE stuff) at this time,

  • Well... -at least there's lots of stuff for you in these two updates combined. Besides the stuff listed below, I've also finally added that third map to the OGRE/G.E.V. section

  • Also note that I will have OGRE Macrotures at MegaCon again this year. If anyone's planning a Florida vacation and would like to get in on the game, drop me an email to reserve your slot.

  • Finally, I have two (2) copies of Avalon Hill's "Starship Troopers". These are the original games that are compatible with OGRE (see "OGRE Meets Starship Troopers" for details.. Both copies are still sealed and therefore in "mint" condition. Anyone interested in purchasing them should email me for price info and shipping terms.

This is NOT an auction (AOL policy forbids me to do so) and the price is set. First ones to notify me of their intention to purchase will have the games set aside in their names. All others will go on an "alternate" list on a first-come-first-served basis.

  • ARRRGGG! My camera jammed during the game and I was unable to finish taking photos after the 5th turn. Ergo, no battle-report. So, I will sumarize the battle here and you can go look at a few of the photos I DID get in the
    Ogre Macrotures section.

  • I also (finally) finished fixing the frontpage link to the OGRE Webring.

OGRE Macrotures
will be at Megaon
Feb. 22
in Orlando, FL

  • Actually, I don't really have much to say. RL has been a pain (which is why my updates get further apart). Anyway, some new stuff here at the site including:

  • Humorous article added to the OGRE/G.E.V. section.
Update on the OGRE Macrotures game at
    Megacon in the Convention section.
Corrected the URL link to the Panpacific Website in the
    Links section.
Partially fixed the frontpage link to the OGRE Webring.

  • I know. Its sure not much. Next update will be better though. I will be taking pictures of the OGRE Macrotures game at Megacon with the intent of producing another battle report. Hopefully, the players will agree to the "Ceasefire Collapse" scenario (with Ogres!) which will produce a report different from the DragonCon one.

Dragon Con Invaded by OGRES!!!

  • Dragon Con 2001 was terrific! I ran three games of OGRE Macrotures. The best one was the Friday afternoon session. I ran the "Get The CP" scenario with two MK Vs and a slightly oversized Defense Force. Loren brought me prize support for the Ogre Macrotures games. Everybody got prizes, and the top players (in terms of good sportsmanship, tactics and luck) got some truly spectacular items including MK V minis, OGRE Miniatures rulebooks and the new Combine GEV-PCs. Thanks to SJ Games for the support

  • Rather than go into details here, goto the OGRE Macro Battle Reports section and enjoy the battle report. (Warning, the Battle Report itself will not be up until 10-17-01).

  • Oh, and in case you're wondering... no, I haven't forgotten "The Battle Of Hyde Park", but my camera was malfunctioning and most of the pictures failed to turn out. I may try to do that Battle report later again later, but no promises.

  • Other interesting things at Dragon Con
Lots of events and distractions at DC. Rather than bore you with blather, just take a look.

  • OGRE Meets Starship Troopers
    (Been there, done that)

    packed house on Saturday.

    Capital Ship Combat Participants.

    Official Sci-Fi-Supply Site!

    "Hello, Children!" "Hey, Chef!!!"
We really hope this guy won the costume
contest. He even sounded like Chef.

  •
  • It truly is regretable that such a great experience was followed scarcely a week and a half later by the worst act of criminal warfare since WWII. Please help by giving blood and donations.
  •
  • Warning! Be very careful. There is, unfortunately, a lot of scams going on taking advantage of this terrible event, particularly on the internet. I recommend sticking with either established charities or go with neighborhood stuff (school and church events such as car washes and bake sales).

Terminate flunky with extreme prejudice
  • Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa! Yes, I'm way overdue updating this site (nearly two months). I can only plead that I've been getting ready for Dragon Con (and suffering from a flu and a cold in that order)

  • Okay, lotsa news to catch up on. Let's get the bad news out of the way first...

  • The Steve Jackson Games Financial Crunch...
    Unfortunately,
SJ Games has suffered a cash flow problem recently. You can get the complete details by scrolling to July 6th after clicking here.
The upshot of this is that some new stuff might be a little later than originally projected, but so far OGRE Miniatures is largely unaffected (crosses fingers, whistles tunelessly).
For those of you who (gasp) haven't visited the
Daily Illuminator at all this month, DON'T PANIC! Steve Jackson Games is NOT closing their doors. Just read their official press release of July the 6th for the details.
Wanna help out? Just do what you've always done, buy OGRE stuff. 'n while your at it, it wouldn't hurt to branch out and try a few new things like, oh, say Frag, Munchkin, GURPS, Dino Hunt... -Oh, heck! Just head on over to
Warehouse 23 and go hog wild!

  • The Armorcast / OGRE Macrotures thing...
    Apparently,
Armorcast is NOT going to be producing OGRE Macrotures after all. You can visit Armorcast's site for the announcement, but it basically says: "We mutually agreed (with SJ Games) to cancel the planned line."
You might have a few questions concerning this. Lemme try to answer a few...
Q: Sooo, does this mean that OGRE Macros are dead?
A: Not at all. As the announcement says, they (SJ Games) have just decided to do it in-house. However, due to bad news item #1 above, it will obviously be some time before SJ Games can get down to design and production.
Q: Aren't you guys (Sci-Fi-Supply) gonna have anything to do with this?
A: Well, heck. We came up with the large-scale models and the cool "Macrotures" title. What more do you want?
    Q: Smartass...
A: Oh, Okay. No, nothing is currently planned (see above) but we might be coming up with a few new Macroture models ourselves now that we know what a Paneuropean LTGEV looks like. Certainly we will assist Steve Jackson Games if they want to take some measurements off our models. But they have their own miniatures and can certainly handle the scaling math as well as us, so I don't see them needing our assistance.
Q: Are you guys gonna be involved with promotion gaming when SJ Games does get around to releasing OGRE Macrotures?
A: Officially? On behalf of SJ Games? That would be up to the almighty Evil Stevie. Certainly we will run games at conventions that we are invited to anyway. If we can plan events in cooperation with SJ Games, so much the better (insert evil laughter here)

  • Which brings us to our GOOD news:

  • Dragon Con is a go...
    We WILL be at
Dragon Con (barring Murphy's damnable interferrence or WWIII) with OGRE Macrotures.
I (by myself) was there last year with them and it was a GREAT time. No less than three games were played (two "Get the CP" and a "Ceasefire Collapse") with an average of nine players per game. Evil Stevie himself was there to give us the low-down on the upcoming release of the OGRE Miniatures line. A fun time was had by all. See photos below...

Really cool OGRE banner marking the play area at Dragoncon One of the three Macrotures games played in progress Evil Stevie wants to karaoke, but settles for giving a lecture on upcoming Ogre products.
  • Well, this time I'm gonna have help. And we will be bringing ALL of our "Mega-Games" you may have heard about. But since this site is about OGRE, we won't go into that right now. Suffice it to say, there will be at least two (maybe three) games of OGRE Macrotures at Dragon Con. Most likely one game each on Friday and Sunday. If I'm not totally brain-dead by Monday, there might be another game during the mid-morning.
So, head on over to the
LINKS section right now or jump directly to Dragon Con.
  •
  • New OGRE Commander...
  • This from Steve Jackson Games: "Paul Chapman, head of our Miniatures Division, has acquired a new hat:

Supreme OGRE Commander!

  • A longtime Ogre fan, he now officially adds the title of Ogre Line Editor to his other duties. He will oversee development and playtesting of new and future Ogre supplements, expansions, and related goodies for both the boardgame and miniatures versions.
  •
  • Excellent! Now we've got someone who can give us the lowdown on upcoming OGRE stuff and help out with problems. Thanks Paul!!
