As children, we may not have appreciated how lucky we were to have a father like "Woodie".
Although
he worked two, sometimes three jobs at a time,
we never
felt he wasn't there.
He always
made time for us.
Whether
it be to attend a sporting event,
rescue us
when we broke down in our cars,
or just
to make us smile when we were feeling blue.
As Adults, we learned to appreciate the kind of man our father
was.
He was a
man of great compassion and inspiration.
He taught
us the meaning of the word love,
in the way
he made each of us feel special.
He taught
us to stand up for ourselves and that we could do
anything we
wanted if we put our minds to it.
We hope that when others think of Woodie,
they remember him as
a man who
seldom had a bad
word to say about anyone.
As a man
who would do anything for a friend
and as a
man whose presence filled an entire room,
because in
our eyes he was a giant.
Our only regret is that his grandchildren will never know the man we all loved so much.
As a family, we would like to thank Immacula,
who was his
dear friend, his health aide.
We also
want to thank the other health aides and the Visiting Nurses
Association
for the
care and respect they showed our father.
Because
of them, his last years were as dignified as he deserved them to
be.
