Shelley Gorny Schoenherr NEW PICTURE OF THE WEEK - oil pastel & pastel artwork
PICTURE OF THE WEEK - May 2008
By Shelley Gorny Schoenherr
Regal Watch
Oil Pastel     26 x 32 Matted and Framed

A recent oil pastel on strathmore charcoal paper
with the subject matter of yet another cat ...
Here sits Morgan, a pensive if not somewhat skittish
little friend, in a dark corner illuminated by a patch of sunlight. And, as
she sat perusing her domain while trying to remain somewhat awake, I found
her to be a wonderful mix of regal cattatude and cuddly black and white fluff.
She was everything a cat should be - regal, pensive and... half asleep.  :O)
Images from the Trunk Show at DCF Gallery, Marsh 13, 2008:

Impressive numbers of art lovers turned out to view the works of Shelley Schoenherr and Jeweler Carl Schneider.  The DCF Gallery enjoyed a large and enthusiastic crowd that partied and celebrated art throughout the evening.
Revisiting the recent   Picture of the Week
The Spread of the Devil's Fire
Sunrise, Devil's Lake, MI

Pastel on Hahnemuhle Suede Paper
      24 x 35.5 matted and framed
Private Collection

For an instant each morning at predawn, the devil peeks his head through a line of trees on the horizon and spews his fire all over the surface of Devil's Lake, thus claiming the water as his own. Devil's Lake, Michigan, after all!

Then, as quickly as they arrived, those sprinkles of fire are gone. They become the silvery twinkles that the rest of the lake dwellers see all during a beautiful Devil's Lake day.

Get coffee, hunker down at the end of a dewy dock before the morning begins, and go looking for it. The Spread of the Devil's Fire on Devil's Lake ... It's pretty darn cool ...
