The International Canine Semen Bank of Colorado is one of the newer additions to the ICSB force.  We began our endeavor in July of 1997 and currently have over 165 dog's semen frozen at our facilities.  We are able to freeze your dog's semen usually at your convenience.  It is not necessary to wait for a "Freeze Day" at our office.
The ICSB semen is frozen in pellet form and stored in breeding units or vials.  When breeding a bitch using surgical implantation, one usually uses one breeding unit at the most fertile period.  When breeding using vaginal insemination, one usually uses two breeding units and breeds similar to breeding with fresh chilled semen, two breedings spaced apart by one day.
The cost of freezing semen with ICSB - CO is as follows:
Initial set up fee - $30.00
Annual storage fee for up to 25 units - $55.00
Collection and freeze for the first 4 units - $160.00
Total = $245.00

Each additional unit above the first 4 is $40.00

The storage fee is for each individual dog.  The semen is stored at Brighton Animal Clinic and released only upon the owner's request.

As of October 1, 1998, AKC requires that any dog whose semen is frozen for storage or collected and used as fresh chilled semen, must have a DNA profile on record at AKC.  This DNA sample can be taken at the time of the collection.  Also, a dog that sires more than 3 litters a year must have a DNA profile on record at AKC, this is the "Frequent Use Sire" program.
Our mobile laboratory can be found at the Rocky Mountain Classic Dog Shows in Denver, CO in the month of February.  At the show site, we are able to collect, freeze, and store your stud dog's semen.  We can do semen evaluations and reproduction consultations.

For the first time,in the year 2000, we also took our mobile laboratory to the Sunflower Cluster Dog Shows in Wichita, KS April 6-9, 2000.  The weather was wonderful, the set up site was excellent and we enjoyed meeting breeders from the Central Kansas area.  We had a great weekend and plan to return next year.  Stop by and see us if you are there.
