"Flying into the FUTURE with COLOR"
 Updated 03/022006

Special Announcement to our Subscriber's/Advertiser's

I would like to express to you our "gratitude" for allowing the Show Bird Journal the opportunity
to serve you through the last Eight Years in the poultry hobby. We feel fortunate to be part of such a fine fellowship hobby, filled with business people who support other poultry organizations. We all benefit from that philosophy and hope that, in return, our wide circulation, dedication to good clean poultry news, and highly competitive advertising rates providing you color to make it easier for you or your company to do business in the poultry industry.

Since 1998 we have expanded our circulation, added many informative and fun editorial features, and placed a Eight page website to increase the number of readers and gain newcomers into our hobby, and increased the number of advertising options available to our clients. We receive annual audits and readership surveys funded by a third party. Additionally, the Show Bird Journal is much cleaner and brighter now andincorporates much more color than it did even in the last year at this time. We have also become much more involved in various facts of our hobby. In spite of postage adjustments in the last Eight years, and continous increases in general, business-related expenses, your support has enable us to make all these improvements wothout raising our Advertising rates in Eight years. Our Subscriptions rates have only increased by $7.00 since 1998.
That is an accomplishment unheard of in the newspaper industry.

The last two years we were sad to report inside the publication that we were having trouble staying in circulation. Increases in newsprint, postage rates, labor costs, the decrease in advertising have taken their toll as we were entering 2006. Those costs require a modest increase in advertsing rates due to the cost of color printing. The differences have made us call a meeting with our accountant and had to make a decision that we are sadly having to report to you. Because of lack of support, and the increase rates we have dissolved the Show Bird Journal. We warned our readers with each issue in the "Letter from the Editor" that this eventually could happen. Alot of folks told us not to tell our readers, but we are honest people and wanted everyone to know the truth, wheather it hurt our publication or not, you had the right to know. We tried to save it by publishing it Bi-monthly, that did not work. Tim and myself will miss this publication, it has help the hobby industry grow in the last Eight years, and I know you will miss it too in the long run. We hope and pray that you understand our reasons for trying to save something that just couldn't be saved, forcing us to make this decision.
Tim also is sad to report he will be taking time off from asking to judge any poultry shows at this time.

The Show Bird Journal was the lowest cost-per-household print in color and advertising rates for the poultry industry. We wish our readers good-luck with other poultry publications available before we came out in 1998. Thabk you for your support. We enjoyed working with you during the past Eight years, and we know you tried to do whatever it took to help us save the Show Bird Journal. We do apologize and we have refunded all we could with what funds were left after the Nov/Dec 2005 issue was printed. We are still returning checks and money orders including paypal funds at this time. Every business takes that chance in hopes to grow and to stay in business for its customers, but some do not make it and no matter how hard they try and what revenues they take it still cannot be saved. Please do not forget, you can claim any monies given to any organizations on your income tax forms, this will help you gain monies you have given to any club, because most monies were expenses for you.

The Show Bird Journal has claimed Bankruptcy and has been dissolved with the State of Alabama. If you have any questions regarding our policies please read our rules and regulations printed inside each issue beside the "Letter from the Editor" usually on page two of every issue.

Sincerely yours,

Shelia Clanton, Editor
