Romania Christian Youth Camp
Romania Christian Youth Camp-                     Catch the Dream!
Thanks so much to all who helped us this year of the camp.  Now, how can you help?  The first way is to 'catch the dream'; that is, to let this idea infect you.  Think about it, pray about it, and please give us feedback!  We must have your moral support if this idea is to continue to succeed.  Secondly, after the proper bureaucratic hurdles have been crossed, you can help in a financial way.  Help us purchase the land; help us build a cabin; help us sponsor one child for only $50 for a camp session.  You will have the name of the specific child you've sponsored, and information about him or her.
The Staff and Campers of RCYC 2002 Outside Our Chalet!
What Is Camp Without A Campfire?
Through the generosity of friends and the prayers of loved-ones, the RCYC was a huge success in 2002!  Mr. Teodor Ancuta donated his chalet in Paltinis and wonderful friends of the camp donated money to pay for the food and staff to bring almost 75 children to the camp in July of 2002!  His daughter Livia and son-in-law Rob acted as our hosts.  So the dream has become real.  Here was the need:  Romanian children are the future of the Lord's Table.  They needed to separate from the distractions offered by city life and go to a place where God is the focus of intense concentration.  This is what a camp can do--provide a place where the teachings of God can be demonstrated in His glorious nature.  Isn't that what YOU felt at camp?  And didn't you want that feeling to last forever?  We were able to teach these wonderful children that in the Family of God, IT DOES!
The Dacians Take A Break From The Fierce Egg Toss Competition
Thank Goodness The Last Part of the Hike Was Downhill!
This is the short-term and long-term plan as approved by the Board of Directors:
Years 1-3:  Continue the current 'tent camping' situation while finding a suitable plot of land to purchase.
Years 4-5:  Purchase the land, but continue 'tent camping' and begin construction of permanent buildings.
Years 6-10:  Finish main buildings and cabins.
Budget for years 1-3:  $5,000/year
Budget for years 4-5:  $15,000/year
Budget for years 6-10: $20,000/year
Through the generosity of Mr. Ancuta, we were able to hold the camp for a total of $3800 in summer of 2002.  However, in order to make the camp permanent, we must pursue the goal of purchasing land for our own upon which to build a fixed facility.
Who Knew Peeling Potatoes Could Be Such Fun?
How does it work?  Christian caregivers in several orphanages arranged to bring the kids from their homes to the camp.  NO CHILD WAS REFUSED!  How did the kids pay for the camp?  They didn't. YOU DID!  We wanted them to know that access to God is free for them; they don't have to 'pay' anyone to let them know the GOOD NEWS that the Son of God makes us holy.

This year, the camp wishes to honor Dr. Gaylon and Mrs. Deanna Smith and Mr. Newman Cross.  The Smiths, two of the camp's largest benefactors, died in a plane crash in November, 2002.  We grieve with the Smith's sons, family and friends.  Mr. Newman Cross was known as a friend of charitable causes around the Mid-South, and he found time to contribute financially and with invaluable advice to our effort.
