BOWLING SUMMARIES 2007 - 2008

  12/8  Traverse City Invite - Timber Lanes
Girls qualify 2nd with 941, 914 hi games and a 230 baker.  Erin leads the field and all tournament team with 190, 225, 170 = 585.  Rachel finishes tied for fifth with 196 - 541 to take the last spot on the all tournament team.  Katie's  215 - 539 finishes 6th.  Christie rolls 197, Jenny 183.  The team defeats Hartland 380 to 262, Sterling Heights Stevenson 351 - 330 but comes up short in a rematch of last years final with TCC 330 - 379.  The boys qualify 4th averaging 964 on with Nick (Erin's brother) leading the field with 227, 279 (1st 10) - 700 for the day.  Derek goes 243 - 622 for 11th and all 7 rostered players bowled.  TC West was the opponent in the quarters but the Rams could not overcome a 42 pin TCW lead and bowed out 368 to 407.
12/15 Kenowa Invite - Westgate
GIRLS WIN qualifying 2nd averaging 783 for two regular games and 160 for six baker games.  In best 2 of 3 bakers the Rams defeated South Christian 166 - 157 in a 3rd game, Unity Christian 149 - 141 in a 3rd game and 193 - 130 and 181 - 166 victories over Lowell in the championship.  Hannah led with 213 - 380, with Erin averaging 174 for two games.  BOYS REPEAT averaging 923 for two games and 201 for six bakers and qualifying fifth.  Derek led with 223 - 439 with Nick 222 - 423.  In the finals the Rams defeated Zeeland in a 3rd game 201 - 168, came from behind against Lowell to win a 3rd game 227 - 194 and after losing to Union 211 - 219 they won the 2nd 224 - 204 and last game 191 - 187 take home the gravy.  Great day for the Rockford TEAMS - they took a step forward today........great job!!!!!!
Zeeland - Nonconference
It was all about the last game after a mediocre 945 1st.  Nick V. went 231, Nick H. 220, Jeff 192, Robby 232 and Derek the last 11 for 279.  The 279 made top scores as did the 1154 and 2099 for the 2 games.
12/28 Bay City Western invite - Monitor Lanes
Thirteen baker games were rolled - the girls averaged 163, were 10 - 3 for 200 bonus points, placed 6th, beat Lake Orion in two games with 187 and 219 but lost to Portland 157 - 203 and 151 - 171 in the stepladder finals for 4th place.  The boys averaged 192 with highs of 248 and 225 going .500, placing 9th after being 4th most of the day, faced #2 seed Davison and lost 169 - 183 and 208 - 236 for 7th.
12/29 Bangor John Glenn Invite - Monitor Lanes
Regional format with three regular games and six baker with a cut to top 16.
Girls average 804 and 152 to qualify 8th.  Katie goes 248 - 583 for 6th on the all tournament team. Christie rolls 214.  Rams face Lans' Cruiseand win with 153 and 165 games but lose to host Bangor John Glenn 131 - 133 and 159 to 220.  Boys average 983 and 198 for 6th.  Jeff goes 257 - 680 and all tournament team at 4th place.  Derek has 247 in 623 and Robby 246 in 622.  Essexville Garber finished the boys day in two games 149 - 172 and 162 - 164.......oh that old adage "spares win" always is true.  
1/5 Fruitport Invitational - Northway - Muskegon
GIRLS WIN AGAIN!!!!!! coming from 30 pins behind in last game to beat Rogers 328 - 316 to capture the title...  Katie threw a double in the tenth to and the team had a clean game after the 4th frame to seal it.  the girls qualified 2nd averaging 863 for 3 games and 151 in 3 bakers.  Mallorie shot 3 200's and 606, Katie was 579.  The girls defeated Byron center 339-322, Fremont 399-326 with a 223 baker to get to the finals.  The boys BLACK team qualified 1st with Derek 255, 246 in 703 (top 3 school record), Nick V. 244 in 662 with Robby a 267 game. The boys also had a 265 baker game averaging 219 for 3.  Facing Union in the round of eight, they lost 361 - 393 with some ill timed spare misses.  The boys ORANGE team average 842 and 173 and missed the top 8 and finshed 11th.   Great job done by all..
   1/12  Preseason OK Red Tournament @ Rockford
Girls have baker sets of 355, 394 and games of 876, 760 and 873 to win the conference opener by 224 pins over Grandville.  Mallorie leads with 217 (2nd highest on the day) - 570 (190 ave - 2nd highest also) and Erin 553 (184 and 4th).  Boys storm back from 178 pins and finish 3rd -  8 pins behind Grandville and 30 back of Hudsonville.  Robby leads with 248 - 655, Nick V. 225, 227 in 634.  Lots of ways to snag this one - baker 152, corner pins and untimely missed spares.........but all in all great attitude...
1/14  Muskegon @ Sherman Lanes
Wow 44' of oil made it tough
Girls win 23 - 7 after going down 6 - 4 in bakers, then winning next 19 of 20 points for the win.  Spare win sometimes.  Boys can't figure it out without Nick (sick) and go down 0 - 10 but storm back for next 17 of 20 to pull it out.  Aaron, however, attacks the 44' of oil and shoots 248 and 242.  Nothing fancy just a good ole comeback to give coach a few gray hairs....
1/16 Jenison @ Home
Girls win 29 - 1.  Erin goes 222, 203 for 425 (second highest all time school record) and Mallorie throws 222 as girls go 939 in first game.  Boys go up 10 - 0 in bakers then go 211 - Ryan R., 202 - Jeff, 215 - Aaron, 235 - Robby and 237 - Derek for 1101 and the victory.. Aaron goes 247 to average at 238 for 4 games this week.  derek strikes out in the tenth to win 2nd game 938 to 930.
1/21 Hudsonville @ Hudsonville
Girls win to go 3 - 0 with 21 - 9 win.  Go up 10 in bakers then Mallorie has first 9 in a row for 267 ( a new school record hi game) and Erin has 208, 191 in 399 and only 2 opens on the day.  Boys are first team to have more than 7 points vs Hville this year and win 23 - 7 to stay 3 - 0.  6 - 4 after bakers boys rip off 1107 to Hville's 1050 and lead 14 - 5.  Nick 223, Jeff 220, Aaron 215, Robby 236 and Derek 213 did the job.  Robby goes 211 for 447 on the night  to lead the team.  Great match - Hville you are a great bunch of guys!!!!
1/23  Grandville @ Home
Girls sneak out a 15 - 15 tie with 4 girls absent out ill.  Down by 30 pins and behind 8 - 11  they win 7 of 11 to save it, even tho they lost total by only 18.  Mallorie stays hot with 202 - 233 to maintain a +200 ave and Erin tossed 369.  Boys win 28 - 2 with 1136 and 1029 for 2165 (top ten in state).  Nick ave. 212, Jeff 206, Aaron (267 gm) 242 ave, Robby 199 and Derek 229 for the day.  Orange team went 1001 with Monty 247 and Ryan 213 to lead the way.
1/26  Zeeland Baker Invite @ Century Lanes - Holland
The girls team, minus the seniors, qualified 8th out of 14 and win over Grand Haven in first round 169 - 157 and 193 - 130 then lose to Grandville 122 - 148 and 196 - 220.  They average 150 for the ten baker games.  The boys orange team qualified 11th averaging 173 and the black team 6th averaging 186.  Unfortunately the two teams had to face each other in the first round with the black team victorious in two games.  The black team made it all the way to the TV finals winning over Unity Christian with a school record 258 - 246 and 504, then beat Grand Haven with 192, 208 but lost in a third game to Byron Center 181 to 220 to finish 2nd.
1/28  Grand Haven @ Starlite in GH
Girls move to  4- 1 - 1 with 28 - 2 win with Mallorie averaging 177 and Katie and Rachel 164.  Rachel breaks the 200 barrier with 204 for hi game.  Boys go 220 - "136" in bakers and win 23 - 7 to stay unbeaten at 5 - 0.  Aaron shoots 254 - 455 to maintain his 234 ave after 9 games.  Robby follows with 414 (207) and freshman Kris rolls 219 as 6th man.
1/30  Muskegon @ Home
Girls win 30 - 0 to go 5 - 0 - 1 in conference.  First game 907 witn Erin 222 and Christie 221 leading the way .  Megan has 170 in 2nd game and Katie 171.  Boys shoot 1085 first game for 23 - 7 win and go 6 - 0 in conference.  Derek leads with 256 - 216, Aaron 236 - 226 and Robby 223 - 195.  Ryan R. rolls 243 for orange squad with Kris 191 and Nick H. 182
2/1  Reeths Puffer Invite @ Northway/Muskegon
The girls qualify 4th behind Grandville, Kelloggsville and Lowell but lose in first round to Fremont 332 to 345 to finish fifth.  Christy leads with 193 - 500 with Mallorie 474, Rachel 464 and katie 453.  Kelloggsville defeats Grandville for the win. The boys black team qualifies 3rd behind Lowell and Grandville with 2 opening bakers of 230 - 234 = 464 and games of 951, 1020 and 981 with Derek 246 - 669, Jeff  215 - 215 in 609 and Robby 582.  In the stepladder finals against Grand Haven, the Rams fight back from a 141 start and 54 pin setback, win by 30 with 177 but fall short 318 - 346 to finish 4th.  Lowell eventually wins final match over Grand Haven by one pin.  Orange squad finishes 16th in qualifying led by Josh Pribble with 251 - 222 in 632 series with Nick H. rolling 223 - 579.
2/4  Jenison @ Fairlanes
Girls move to 6 - 0 - 1 with 25 - 5 win.  Mallorie rolls 223 and 396 for a 195 conference average.  Jenny rolls 215 in 2nd game.  Boys move to 7 - 0 with 28 - 2 win.  Derek leads way with  225 - 212 in 437 while Nick V. goes 234 in 428.
2/9  Hudsonville Invite @ Hudsonville
Girls qualify 2nd with 824 average for 3 games and 197 for 5 baker games - 2 pins behind Rogers.  Team is led by Rachel with 181 ave, Mallorie 168, Katie 164 and Erin 162.  High bakers were 214,208 and 200.  In the semifinals, facing Unity Christian the girls lost their spare game and lost  299 to 394.  UC beat rogers in the TV finals.  The boys started with 1136, averaged 1025 for 3 games and 193 in bakers to qualify 2nd to Hudsonville.  Boys were led by Derek with 251 - 685 for a spot on the all tournament team in 2nd.  Nick rolled 238 - 632 and Robby 267 - 648.  In a rematch with Byron Center in the semis, BC's strike were to much for the rams and they lost 409 - 469.  BC defeated UC in the finals.
2/12 Grandville @ Fairlanes
Girls move to 7 - 0 - 1 with 27 - 3 win.  Girls led by Mallorie with 210 - 386 with Jenny 173 and Christina 179 while the team averaged 840 in 2 games and 174 in the bakers.  Boys lose (11 - 19) for first time and move to 7 - 1.  Leading 6 - 4 after bakers with Nick rolling 250 and Derek 229 in the 1st regular game the Rams lose 7 of 9 points.  Needing 7 points to tie the boys rally back with Nick 221 - 471 and Derek 225 - 454 but lose 2nd game by 5 pins.
2/13 Grand Haven @ Rockford
Rams win 23 - 7 with seniors having an off day but the underclassmen pull out the win to go 8 - 0 - 1.  Christina fires 195, Erin averages 171 and Katie 159 to lead the way.  Jenny fires 221 for JV.  Boys come off tough day vs GV but come together for 23 - 7 win and go 8 - 1, one game up on Hudsonville.  A nice 235 baker gets a 6 - 4 lead and first game win by 65 gives Rams a cushion.  Then Aaron has 1st nine ina row for 275 and 477 on the day, keeping his average at 223 in conference.  Robby finally breaks the 200 barrier for 408 and derk is 412.
  2/15 Hudsonville @ Rams
Girls win 16 - 14 to go undefeated in conference at 9 - 0 - 1.  down 0 - 10 after 2 close bakers they win 8/9 pts rolling 918 with Christy 221 and Erin 200, go up by 50 pins and win 2nd game for victory.  Mallorie has 205 in 2nd game and Erin 191 in a 391 series.  Boys also win 16 - 14 to go 9 - 1 on the year.  Behind by 74 pins after 1 baker they roll 249 to take total by 3 and a 6 - 4 lead.  Winning only 2 pts in the next game and down by 30 pins the boys roll 1097 to win 8 points and sneak out the victory.  Nick rolls 246, Aaron 224 - 222, Robby 204 - 220,  Derek 212 - 268 and freshman kris 206 for school top ten hi series of 2120 .
2/16  Postseason @ Fairlanes
Girls take first overtaking Grandville for 1st to win repeat as conference champions.  Rams place 4 in the top 8 with Christy  227 - 609 for 1st on the day, Katie 541 for 4th, Hannah 210 - 526 - 6th, Mallorie 205 - 523 - 7th and Erin 201 - 506 - 8th.  Boys average 214 in 4 bakers then go 1086 and school record 1208 to take 321 pin lead and repeat as conference champions.  Nick V. goes 221-214-259 for 696 and 2nd, Robby 248-226-214 for 671 and 3rd, Aaron 257-248 for 671 and 5th, Derek 257-623.  What a week...........
