Folk Remedies Using Food ItemsI don't know about you, but I've always been fascinated by folk remedies and read about them in every book I could find. I know there are a lot of books on remedies and I definitely haven't seen them all. There are also quite a few web sites too. How is this site different? First of all, I am proposing to offer an alphabetized list of remedies using ingredients or items normally found in your kitchen or pantry. Moreover, these remedies are only used externally. If you want something good to ingest, see my Romanian cookbook. This site combines my interests in cooking and folk remedies. You will probably be amazed to find out how popular food items may be used in different ways, not just for eating. These remedies have been compiled and adapted from many books, which are listed in the bibliography. Some of them are definitely weird, or at least strange. They are not guaranteed to work 100% of the time and on 100% of people who try them. But, they may be just what works best for you. And you know they are 100% natural. You probably have most everything you need right in your kitchen. Some of these remedies can be used right away; some need to be prepared in advance and stored for when you might need them. If you need a remedy for a particular condition, you can look for it alphabetically, or you can use your browser's "Find in Page" command. Finally, this is going to be an ongoing project. Feel free to e-mail me new remedies, which you don't see here. They have to be applied externally and have to be made out of food products.
