SPARTANBURG SKY KNIGHTS Newsletter June 28, 2006 We had a so-so turnout for our
electric event. Maybe 35 to 40. There was two other fly-ins close by with an
electric event near Charlotte. We did
have five guys from WCRC. Hopefully our
October event will draw a large crowd like last year. Grass cutting party number four
will be held next week. The field mower
works fine and we would appreciate if some of the non regular cutters would
jump on the mower and cut. Bring some
gas, jump on and go. REMINDER - The new ( shiny )
chairs at the field will last longer if we place them under the pavilion after
a day of flying so please do not leave them out in the sun. JC has obtained a couple of new
electrics and they fly great. The
little banchee and brio are excellent flying electrics. They both are ARF’s and they have airfoils.
(unlike most foamies ) Who said ole geezers can not fly small electrics? David Phillips is burning the sky
up with a foamie when he can keep it glued together. It was good to see Thomas Richard
at the field Sunday. He hopes to get an
electric in the air soon. Howard Spry
said he has gotten 8 flights on his glider without having to charge the
battery. WHOW El presidente, David Stewart ask
that we put out for thought whether we should hold the remaining summer
meetings on Saturday mornings instead of Sunday afternoons or meet bimonthly
during the summer? We had poor
attendance at the May and June meetings.
