HotDog Express for AOL Hometown Document Before you begin to explore my page, let me ask you a couple simple questions.

Have you ever thought about how you can make a difference about the type of future your children or grandchildren are going to face? Whether or not they will be prepared to meet the challenges that life will send their way?

If you have, then let me tell you - no make that show you about an organization called P.E.A.C.E = Protect, Educate, Aid Children Everywhere. This organization was established by Adrian Paul, star of the hit television series, "The Highlander". After traveling the world in making this series and some films, and meeting different children all over the world, Adrian wanted very much to do something that would make a difference in the lives of all children and so the PEACE Fund was created. One of the programs they sponsor is the "School Makes A Difference" first established by "Athletes and Entertainers for Kids".

September 25, 1999

This is the day the PEACE Fund held their very first event, and I was priviledged to be asked to assist them in making this a day that none of us will ever forget.

At the beginning of this event, the kids were quiet and reserved. As if they could not quite believe what was about to happen, and that celebrities would actually take time to be with them.

But here he was, "Mr. Highlander", better known as Adrian Paul.

Along with 3 other celebrities, Dustin Nguyen of "21 Jump Street" & "VIP",

John Marshall Jones of "Smart Guy",

and Lydia Nicole of "Stand and Deliver" to hold workshops that would cover a wide variety of subjects. From 911 for Kids, Interactive Reading, Setting Goals, Health & Fitness, and How to Deal with Peer Pressure.

Our very special participants enjoyed every minute of the classes, and came away knowing that there are people who do care about them and their future.
While all this was going, one of the things I and the other PEACE Volunteers were putting together bags of school supplies for each child that attended this event with the assistance of 3 abled-bodied students who simply pitched in and helped assemble well over 100 gift bags.

When this wonderful event was finally drawing to a close, the kids were given an opportunity to summarize what they learned. They were the recipients of the best gift of all - time. Celebrities and others gave their time to the kids, to pay attention to them, to listen to them, and the kids learned that adults do care about them and their future.

In the end, everyone was laughing and smiling, and left feeling better about themselves and their future. Our kids are our future, and the PEACE Fund is doing what it can to assure a bright future for all.
