Our Personal Encounter with Floyd!

It's early, about 6 a.m. We are packing to evacuate when I took this picture. We decided not to leave. The water had receded about a foot when this and the next picture were taken.

This was the view from our front porch. Things are looking better! The water has started to recede! It was in our front yard earlier and you could not see our neighbors driveway at all!

It's early in the afternoon, about 1 p.m. Things are looking considerably better, still can't go anywhere. All roads are closed. Many roads have one or more cars stranded in standing water. You often wonder if the driver made it safely out!

The water has gone down a foot, we can now see our fence in the back yard. Luckily our house is built up from the backyard...we now know it's exacly 4 feet above our backyard. We always wanted to live near water, thought we'd have to go to it....not necessarily so!

A view from our backyard looking over into our next door neighbors back yard. Our neighbors have a huge tree on their house, luckily no damage to the roof as they can tell.

Venturing Out! This was at about 11 a.m. We couldn't go far in any direction...every street within 1/2 a mile looked like this. This was the entrance to our neighborhood. The water is covering the bridge to Maple Creek that is in our backyard.
