Are you new to the sport of showing dogs?  Does it all seem hopelessly confusing to you?  Not getting enough out of handling classes? Then this extensive two-day seminar is for you!

This is not simply a handling seminar! Our seminar is designed for the beginning or novice dog show exhibitor of any breed.  It covers many of the topics that "newbies" find confusing and details on information that is hard for new people to find.  Topics cover a wide variety of subjects; including how to find out about shows, how shows work, filling out entry forms, the different methods used to submit entries, how to figure out points using several different scenarios, proper ring attire, the "unwritten rules" and much, much more.  In our seminar, we include information on both American Kennel Club and Canadian Kennel Club shows.  A "hands on" session, using your own dog, will give you basic instruction on how to stack your dog, various ring procedures and patterns, training and gaiting.

Please note that you may attend both days; or choose to attend either Saturday or Sunday.

Saturday
On Saturday, written materials will be handed out and the following topics covered:
*Dog shows-what are they and why do people show their dogs?
*What are the different "types" of dog shows?
*What criteria must a dog meet before it can be shown?
*Registration questions and issues.
*What are the requirements for a dog to obtain a AKC or CKC championship?
*Understanding the point schedule and how it works
*How to find out about dog shows
*The difference between AKC and CKC shows
*How to fill out entry forms
*Different ring procedures
*Ring attire
*Common mistakes new people make
*Your breed standard; what is it and how to understand it
*Question and answer period

Handouts include AKC and CKC rules and regulations, samples of AKC and CKC entry forms, show records and "New Exhibitor Handbook"

People attenting only Saturday do not need to bring a dog.

Sunday
*Thumbnail review of the topics discussed on Saturday.
*Test your knowledge on the understanding of show procedures; review of a dog show from start to finish.
*Training, grooming and conditioning.
*Hands-on handling session. This session will be video taped and then review by the class.

Note: On Sunday, the first portion of the class will be held inside.  After that, we will proceed to the handling session.  Sunday attendees should plan on bringing a dog.  Until we get to the "hands on" portion, the dog will need to stay in your car.

What past participants have to say...

...the seminar was great and the handouts, especially the booklet, were super!  Very definately "got my monies worth".

...I found the written materials especially helpful.  A very worthwhile seminar for the newbie!

...I wish that I had done this months ago, it would have made my first couple of dog shows so much more enjoyable.

...your handling session is far superior to any handling class.  Thank you for a WONDERFUL experience.  Ann Stockton

...this was a great experience for me and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with somebody who is very much respected as a breeder/handler.  Devon Balocco

...Thank you, it was very helpful and I felt I learned a lot.  There is a lot to try to put together in two short days :). Kim Dailey

...The single most helpful topic was the detail of keeping points and how to show your dog once in the ring.  Karen Jefferds

...The handouts were extremely detailed and informative.  Anne Jacobson

...Learning about the point structure was very good, and the tips of handling helped me to understand what the judge wants to see.  Greg Kline

...Extremely informative! I feel competent to show my dog!  Covered every aspect of showing!  Nola von Neudegg

..Great seminar, teaches what you do not get in a strictly hands-on handling class.  Detailed written information to take away and refer back to as needed is indispensible.  Amy Prochaska

..Thank you for everything.  It was well worth the drive everyday!  I will refer often to the handouts.  Beth Chapin

...Again I want to thank you for all the wonderful things I learned in your seminar last May.  Being a TOTAL novice, it was a lot to take in.
Your seminar is such a thorough breakdown of what it is all about.  I still go over the booklet. Lily got her first point in Vancouver, WA a couple weeks ago.  I really
can't compare the excitement and sense of accomplishment to anything I have participated in before.  Of course it was a small win, but we all
must start somewhere! Thank you for sharing your years of experience with us beginners.  I
really don't know how I could have learned the intricate details of conformation shows without your class.
Teri Kruse
