We traveled to Santa Rosa on another fine day for a track meet. Temps in the low 70’s with maybe a 10mph wind. The varsity boys had another tough day loosing to Cardinal Newman 87 to 38, while the girls continue to put up big numbers up against their competitors defeating Ursuline 109 to 17. Due to college night we did not run the 3200m. Even though the score doesn’t indicate it, the boys had a good day, with many improvements being made. Niko Conner broke the 4:50 barrier in the 1600 and Gabe Stein broke the 5 minute mark. Patrick Sammons improved his shot distance to over 43 feet and first year athlete junior Ryan Dieckman was a triple winner getting 3 PRs in the process. So things are looking better. The girls are also showing improvements as we prepare for our showdown with Healdsburg next week. Last year we met Healdsburg for our last duel meet of the year and they were undefeated at the time. This year they will be our first league meet and will set the tone for the rest of the season. We need to be ready. The girls were led by double winners Christina Dwyer, Anna Dwyer, and Allison Cobb. We now have three girls throwers over 80’ in the discus with Christine Salek topping the trio with a toss of 94’ 4” a PR.
