Why We Recommend Modern Service

***Fuel System Tune-Up***

Removes carbon and deposits from fuel injectors, valves, and combustion chambers.  Carbon deposits are the result of additives used in modern gasolines to keep them stable and burnable.  These necessary chemicals leach out and form substantial collections of carbon.  Our fuel system tune-up is recommended for emissions failures, engine pinging problems, rough idle problems, hard starting, hesitation problems, and as a general preventive maintenance service.  Failure to perform this service could lead to failed emissions, various performance concerns, lower fuel economy, engine noises, and  sometimes---engine damage.

***Cooling System Coolant Exchange***

Removes scales and contamination from inside the radiator and engine and maintains the proper coolant pH.  Coolant pH is continually dropping and the lower the pH, the more acidic and corrosive the coolant becomes.  Coolant should be changed at two year or twenty four thousand mile intervals on most vehicles.  Failure to flush coolant can lead to water pump failure, radiator failure, shortened hose life, failed head gaskets and many other costly failures.

***Transmission Fluid Exchange***

Softens and removes normal contamination from the inside of the transmission.  It is especially helpful in removing dirt that collects inside the torque converter.
Because the torque converter spins at a high rate of speed, dirt suspended in the transmission fluid is spun outward inside the converter and builds up on its inner surfaces.  Dirt continues to build until it reaches a sufficient thickness to begin flaking off in chunks.  These chunks of dirt restrict the flow of fluid through very small passages inside the transmission.  Reduced fluid flow causes the transmission to overheat, leading to repid wear of automatic transmission clutches and premature transmission failure.  Routine transmission fluid exchange can double or triple the life of your automatic transmission.  It is one of the most cost beneficial services you can have performed.

***Power Steering Fluid Exchange***

A relatively new process that helps prevent the failure of seals and gaskets inside the power steering pump and steering rack and pinion.  In the past, power steering fluid was not a concern and typically lasted the life of the vehicle.  Today, power steering fluid deteriorates much sooner due to significantly higher operating temperatures and pressures.  Fluid deterioration can be credited with an estimated 300% increase in power steering related repairs over the past fifteen years.  Power steering fluid exchange prevents most of the expensive power steering failures.

***Brake Fluid Exchange***

Brake fluid is hygroscopic which means it attracts and absorbs moisture.  This is a natural occurrence in all brake systems.  Contrary to the popular myth, there is no such thing as a sealed brake system.  Because brake fluid attracts moisture like a magnet attacts metal, moisture can even be drawn into the brake fluid through the pores or rubber brake system components.  Moisture in the brake system combines with available oxygen causing oxidation of brake hydraulic parts.  Some parts are inexpensive, some are staggeringly expensive!

***Engine Oil Flush***

No matter how meticulous you are about oil changes, there are areas inside every engine where oil doesn't circulate well.  The oil sits in depressions in metal castings of the engine where it slowly becomes thick and gooey from heat.  Over time this forms chunks of sludge that move about inside the engine.  As these chunks find their way to the oil pan, they are sucked into the oil pump pickup screen where they eventually restrict the amount of oil that can circulate for lubrication.  Net result---shortened engine life.

Note:  Coolant, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid should be replaced before they change color.  When fluid changes color, it is causing damage to the system they were designed to protect.
