Thank you for visiting the Hogwarts First Years Information page. We are pleased that you are intrested in our fine school of Witchcraft and Wizadry. We feel we have one of the finest establishments in the world. The school itself is nearly a thousand years old with a rich history. Some of our graduates have gone on to do great things. Some have retained positions in the Ministry of Magic and still others have gone off to the far corners of the earth to study dragons, fight the dark arts, or have even come back to our beloved school to teach.

Albus Dumbledore - Hogwarts' Headmaster
Albus Dumbledore is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) wizards alive today! He is renowned for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945. Shortly there after he became one of the most loved teachers at Hogwarts. Students and graduates alike still look up to this pillar of the wiazrding world for his knowledge and his even handed manner in which he conducts students and staffing matters.

Professor Minerva McGonagall - Deputy Headmistress - Transfiguration Instructor
Professor McGonnagall is our esteemed Headmistress and the head of Gryffindor House. In addition to assisting our renowned Headmaster, she also teaches our Transfiguration lessons. She is a firm but accomplished instructor, demonstraiting her skills by transforming herself into a cat and back again and turning her desk into a pig. She is indeed a great asset to Hogwarts.

Professor Severus Snape - Master of Potions
Our Master of Potions is, indeed, just that! He has a vast knowledge on potions, how to prepare them, and their uses. He also is the head of Slytherin House and is hoping to lead them to yet another year as House Champions. If they accomplish this, it would make for an amazing seventh year in a row. Although Professor Snape's teaching style leaves some of our students cold, he is a credit to our vast halls of higher learning.

Madam Hooch - Professor of Flying
What is any Witch or Wizard without a working knowledge of how to use a broom. Our very own Madam Hooch is a very accomplished pilot and instructor. In addition to teaching our students how to master the skill it requires to operate a broomstick she aslo is the head of Ravenclaw house. In addition to her regular duties she also volunteers as head referee for our school's Quidditch matches.

Professor Sprout - Herbology Instructor
Here at Howarts we have our very own greenhouses that are run and cared for by Professor Sprout. To say that she has an exceptional green thumb would be an understatement. She not only instructs our students how to recgonize many different plants she instructs them on their care, uses, benefits, and in some cases dangers. In addition to keeping our greenhouses full of life, she is the head of Hufflepuff House. She is a blooming example of the quality of instructors here at Hogwarts.

Professor Flitwick - Charms
Charms may sound easy enough, but as our older students will tell you they can be very hard to master. Our Charms Professor may be small in stature but takes on the very large task of instructing our students on how to carry out a charm spell with succsess. He commands to attention of his students with his skillful demonstrations. He is a true diamond in our crown of learning.

Hogwarts Ghosts
We are very proud of our long history. Not only our school but it's many inhabitants. We have no idea exactly how many ghosts call our hallowed halls home but there are some that you will meet right away.
There is of course The Bloody Barron who haunts Slytherin House, he is also the only ghost who can keep our resident Poltergiest, Peeves, in check. Knowone knows how he got the blood stains on his cloths and to date knowone has asked.
Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington is our Gryffindor resident ghost. He also goes by the name Nearly Headless Nick. He was beheaded when he was alive, well almost beheaded, thus resulting in his head still being attached (well somewhat). He would prefer that you called him by his real name instead of his "Nick" name.
The Fat Friar blesses Hufflepuff house with his presence and The Grey Lady graces Ravenclaw house with her beauty.
There is also one class, History of Magic, which is still taught by Professor Binn's Ghost. He loved teaching so much that when he died we really didn't have the heart to replace him and so he remains to instruct our students on a vast subject in which he is an expert. We could not ask for a more devoted teacher be it alive or dead.
