For once in my life, I gave it all,

opened my heart and let love flow free,

unlocked the doors and opened the windows

totally trusting exposing all that is me.

I welcomed love with open arms and heart

I embraced that love, stepping beyond the fear

For once my heart was truly filled

and it began to breathe again.

A love so natural, so strong, so free,

and in that love I became all I could be.

But then one day...that beautiful love,

tried and convicted me of things I did not do

found me guilty and decided to set me free.

My heart withers in the reality,

that love has the option to leave.

As I walk down the corridors of my heart,

I sweep the shattered pieces under the rug,

and one by one , I draw the curtains,

hit the lights and lock the door....
