Rev. Matthew Schramm, Pastor

United in God's Love.
Dedicated to God's Service.
Here are ways to worship God in the First Presbyterian Church of Sussex:

Worship Service -- Each Sunday is a special time to praise God and experience spiritual renewal.

Sunday School -- Our goal is to "Weave Faith Into Life."  Family members of all ages study the same Bible passages.  Additional tools, such as "Take Home" pages and "Driving the Point Home" bulletins, encourage families to discuss Bible lessons together and transform what they have learned into daily life.

Choirs -- The Church Choir sings each week. The Family Choir and Children's Choir sing occasionally.  Two newly-formed Handbell Choirs will offer music regularly in the worship service.

Youth Fellowship -- This activity has a varied program, including overnights, service projects, and mission trips for students in middle & high schools.

Confirmation -- Students in 7th & 8th grades learn what it means to be a Presbyterian Christian, and prepare to join the church at completion of the program.

Children's Puppet Ministry -- Young people from the Junior High Class perform puppet shows for special occasions.

Ministry Groups -- Our groups include Congregational Fellowship, Budget & Finance, Buildings & Grounds, Christian Education, Community Outreach,  Personnel, and Worship & Sacraments.

Women's Night Out -- The women meet the last Wednesday of the month, from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. There is free pizza and babysitting.  Expect lively discussion.

Men's Breakfast -- Men of the church meet at the Sussex Queen Diner the 3d Wednesday of each month at 7 AM.

Afternoon Women's Group -- This group provides numerous opportunities for fellowship, as well as sponsoring special project drives, such as yard sales, bake sales, and homemade soup sales.

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Ministry -- This group provides childhood lead poisoning awareness and education to adults. We also perform lead and safety awareness puppet shows for children in pre-school and kindergarten.  The show has been performed for more than 5,200 children.

Interfaith Hospitality Network -- Three times a year, one week each, our church hosts guests who are homeless in Sussex County.

Congregational Health Ministry -- This type of ministry nurtures physical, emotional, and spiritual health. This program is a partnership with Saint Clare's Hospital here in Sussex Borough.

If you have another activity or interest in mind, please let us know.  We welcome new programs.
