Cool Electronic Stuff

Many have asked me about the EGT gauge that I use. I purchased it for around $150 for the meter from a electronics instrument catalog. The K-type thermocoupler I bought separate from Barry Grant. It clamps to a header tube and sticks through a 1/4" hole in the header.  It will hold a high and low temperature in memory until cleared, this way I never have to look at it during a run. It also has provisions to set an alarm at a high and low level. A calculator style memory is also available with a key to calculate difference between memory value and current. It runs on a 9v battery. I have found it very handy in tuning my cars.

Below is a picture of my home made 2 step box and adjustable rev limiter for use with a MSD or similar ignition box. The first knob I use for the rpm limiter while I am on the trans brake and the 2nd one I use for my upper RPM limiter. From MSD the two step costs $52.95 and each of the 12 position limiters cost $43.69 (Summit's prices) for a total of $140.33. I built this box for about $20, BUILD YOUR OWN!

The cable on the floor is the serial cable that is used between the dfi and a laptop. The round button on the silver plate on the right  is my starter and the toggle switch above it selects between delay or no delay when leaving off the trans brake.
