Naturally Aspirated

Naturally Aspirated

The S-trim was totalled. You could turn the pulley and the impeller independently. All the teeth were ripped off of the internal gears. As vortech describes it is that under decel the air forcing its way back through the impeller, heats it and it expands hitting the wall of the housing. Eventally it will lock up into the wall and the gears then destroy themselves. I rebuilt the engine and cleaned all the metal gear bits from the vortech out of it , the oil drain line from the blower was end to end solid metal pieces.

I then made the following modifications:

Heads fully ported with new manley severe duty valves 2.055/1.625
Kmotion H-11 tool steel springs.
Gt40 lower intake custom ported and welded
Downs upper box custom ported
Accufab 75mm TB.

I ran this combo in 97 naturally aspirated for a ET of 11.721@117.27 mph. This was one day only in '97 with no tuning. Im sure we could have done better with tuning  but we ran into transmission problems and had to leave.

You can see the front bars from the cage , where they hit the strut towers. Yup thats the stock steel hood leaning against the car. Note the vortech brackets still in place-had to hold the alternator in somehow! click for large view
