Star-Chey Samoyeds began many years ago with Debbi and her first love, Collies. Deb and Bob met in Estes Park, Colorado in 1971 at Cheley Colorado Camps, where we were both Wrangler/Counselors. We married a year later and with our brand-new son Rob, moved to Whidbey Island WA for Bob's Vietnam tour on the Enterprise. There we met our first Samoyed, a rescue named Sasha who HATED Deb. After the Navy, and with our second son Ed a newborn, we settled in Colorado Springs. Star was our first Collie, named from Deb's nickname-"Star-Shiner" (long story). Several years later when we moved to Hobbs, New Mexico we brought with us a young Collie from a Kennel in Cheyenne, Wyo. Thus "Star-Chey"was born. We lost "Jamie" tragically, and in a serendipitous twist of fate, met Judy Mears and aquired our first "real" Samoyed, StarChey's Snow Princess. Princess and Ch Trailblazer's Circuit Breaker gave us our beloved "K.J." and "Jammie" , and Jammie in turn gave us "Alex". In 1995, "KitKat" joined our family, again from Judy Mears, and a year later "Sugar" joined the family from Carolyn Bateman. Little did we know at the time we came up with our kennal name, that in 2000 we would be breeding to a very special dog in Cheyenne, Wyo., "Midas" , Ch Kriskella' Turns to Gold WSX owned by our good friends
Geoff and Brenda Abbott - Kriskella Samoyeds. Thus the name StarChey has come full circle. On June 29th Midas and Kit Kat presented us with 4 handsome boys and 3 beautiful girls.
Bob and Deb are involved in working and showing all of the Sammies. Both "Kit Kat" (Trailblazer's Rumor Has it WSX) and"Sugar" (Ch Artic Mis't Forget Me Not WSX) run on Bob's sled team and weight pull. Both have passed both first and second level herding instinct testing .
But most of all the kids are just that, they live in the house and enjoy being spoiled at all times.
