That lies in the heart, in other words, in the passions."

My Resume

Finally, I never have to do this again, thanks, Bill Wilson.

This site contains 'LINKS' to important news and service resources for education and information on HIV & AIDS related topics.

If you know of any relevant links which are not included in this listing, I'd be happy to add these - so please feel free to e-mail me with comments and suggestions.

Why this page?

On a daily basis I have questions posed to me on the internet, e-mail, IRC and so on, and with the Internet resources available today, these questions can all be answered in detail by accessing the right sites.

The problem is that you may need to visit several sites in order to get the total picture and search engines really only gives you 'hints' as where to go, so this is a more concise listing of important links in a quick 'click-on' format.

About myself:

My name is Stu Smith, I'm a 57 year old white male living in San Francisco, CA. I'm 6'3, 225, have a beard, brown hair, blue eyes, big hands, size 14 shoe. I'm happy, joyous and free. I'm smart, fairly well educated and very independent. I enjoy the company of all human beings, and a great many animals on land, in the sea and in the air. I love travel by Ship, Rail and automobile, planes are just fine too. My career has been in publishing, electronics and the bar and restaurant business and it has been good to me.

Gloating over the 49er trouncing of AOL...
I was diagnosed HIV+ in 1989 when I owned and operated a swinging singles bar here in San Francisco. I went into denial and started drinking myself into oblivion to avoid dealing with the stigma of a death sentence from what was then popularly believed to be the result of my QUEER identity. I converted to an AIDS diagnosis in early 1995, and decided with the help of something far bigger than I, to get clean and sober. I had already begun searching for information and resources for people like myself, and when I finally went on disability, I really accelerated my efforts to find and utilize as many resources as I could find out there. There are lots, and the response of people from all walks of life has been tremendous, and perhaps unprecedented. When I started my journey, I was directed to Aids Benefit Counsellors, Project Inform, The Aids Emergency Fund, and Shanti, each of whom reached out with love and compassion and gave me hope and the courage to go forward with confidence. Through these pioneer organizations, hundreds of agencies have flowered and grown to offer services and support for all of us caught in this pandemic.

Pontification came naturally to me as a young man, then came MEN...

My hope is that by starting this site, I will make this journey easier and less time consuming for those still to come and those who will minister to their needs. I have been given a new life as a result of Aids, and I am deeply and humbly grateful for the combined efforts of so many people who have given their time, money, love and labor to give unconditional support to each of us facing this predicament.

I have had the opportunity in the past several years to give back a small portion of all that has been so freely given by volunteering for the very organizations that have been there for me and all of us, and strongly recommend this to all who have the ability to give back what they can by reaching out and helping others. I personally can frequently be found doing a variety of services for Shanti, Positive Resources, The Names Project or the Kaiser Permanente AIDS Advisory Board, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to be of service to anyone facing this disease. Please send me your comments and suggestions, and if you just want to talk, e-mail me.

I'm searching for links to social, entertainment and recreational sites that we can share and enjoy. Please enter your suggestions in your comments submitted to my guestbook.I conduct randomized drawings for trips around the world, guided by Howdy Doody, Spider Man and Carrie Nation for those signing the guestbook, and providing links to other sites that offer fun, excitement and opportunity.
