QA

1. When will the
next CD be released?
A. I'm guessing
that there will be a new CD released sometime in 2005. It's a
work in progress...
2. Is there a
possibility of performing in Jackpot again?
A. I'm not sure.
I was hoping they would ask us back this spring. Now I'm hoping
they will have us back in the fall.
3. What is your
favorite perfume?
A. I very rarely
wear perfume. So many people I know are sensitive to fragrances
that I don't wear it anymore.
4. What do you
feel is your most overlooked song?
A. This is an
interesting question. It is something that I've never thought
about. Because I don't look back on my career very much, I don't
think I have an answer. I very rarely think about the music I
recorded over twenty years ago. Things happened as they did and I
don't have any regrets as regards to wishing one song had gotten
more attention than any other.
5. Of all of the
songs you have recorded, what is your favorite?
A. When we're
younger I think it is common to have a favorite color or favorite
food. As I've grown into my middle years I find that I don't
label things as much-bad or good, like or dislike. I love all the
colors of the rainbow. They all have their place and time in my
life. I think I feel the same about all the songs I've recorded
and sang. To choose one above the others just wouldn't make sense
to me now.
6. How do you
feel about the recent war?
A. I am deeply
saddened by the destruction and loss of life this war has caused.
I grieve for the people who have lost their children, fathers,
mothers, brothers, and sisters. I pray that we can all find ways
to create true peace that does not involve killing and violence.
It just doesn't make sense to me that killing will solve
anything. If killing one another worked, we would have stopped
having wars centuries ago.
7. Do you plan to
tour more?
A. In the future
as I release new CD's , a tour might be put together to promote
my music. I am open to the possibility, but I don't have any
plans for one at the moment.
8. How long have
you been married?
A. Thirteen
Years.
9. How many
Brothers and Sisters do you have?
A. One brother
and one sister. I'm the first-born.
10. Who is your
favorite singer or group currently?
A. There is that
word 'favorite' again! I enjoy Eva Cassidy,Enya,Mary Black,Nora
Jones,Mindy Smith,Maura O'Connell, John Mock,Cheryl Wheeler,Patty
Griffin,Craig Bickhardt,Mary Chapin Carpenter,Clare Burson,Bill
Lloyd,Jackson Browne,Don Williams,Kieran Kane,Steve Earl,Kate
Campbell,Edgar Meyer,Joshua Bell,Itzhak Perlman,Beth Nielson
Chapman,Diana Krall,Billie Holiday,Tracy Chapman,Dan Penn,the
sound tracks from Lord of the Rings, The Red Violin, and
Shadowlands. The list goes on and on. No favorites--I love them
all.
11. What types of
music do you listen to other than country?
A. I listen to
very little country music these days. I think my taste in music
has changed quite a bit over the years. I listen to
classical, opera, jazz, blues, alternative, oldies. The better
question is, what don't I listen to? I listen to very little
hip-hop, rap,or polka music--but I'm open to listen to good music
in any genre!
12. Do you still
collect porcelain dolls?
A. No, I don't. I
haven't collected them since the late 1980's.
13. What kind of
dog is Smoky?
A. Smoky was a
stray we found many years ago. His heritage is a mystery. He
resembles Benji, the movie dog, but much cuter, of course! A
mother's love, what can I say!
14. Of all the
places you have visited in the world, what is your favorite?
A. I love the
Smoky Mountains and Glacier National Park in Montana.
15. Who is your
hair stylist?
A. If I tell you,
I might never be able to get in for an appointment!!
16. Who is your
favorite actor or actress and what is your favorite movie?
A. Tom Hanks has
made a lot of great movies. I think he's the Jimmy Stewart of
modern times. I think Meg Ryan is adorable - the Doris Day of the
current age. Russell Crowe has tremendous depth as does Sean Penn
and Jude Law. Renee Zelweger is great! I can't get enough of the
Lord of the Rings trilogy of movies. They are incredible!
17. Do you plan
to perform in Utah anytime soon?
A. I would love
to perform in Utah again some day. There are no plans at this
time to do so. To go out and do one show is cost prohibitive. The
cost of hiring musicians, booking airfares, hotels, ect. is very
high. Show promotors and clubs can't afford to pay an artist
enough to make it work financially. If I were on a tour of
several cities, I would definitely want to do a show in Utah
again.
18. What are your
favorite foods?
A. I love fruits
and vegetables, fish, chicken, and turkey. I eat very little red
meat, sugar, starch or processed foods.
19. What are your
plans for the future?
A. I plan to
continue recording CD's and occasionally perform in concert. I
want to write songs, walk our dog Smoky, travel, enjoy being with
my family and friends. I want to keep growing in mind, body and
spirit. I want to read lots of books and bring positive energy
into the world in every way I can.
20. What is one
thing that your Mom taught you when you were a child? And one
thing your Dad taught you as a child?
A. My mother
taught me to believe in myself. She believed that I could
become a successful singer or whatever I chose to be, and
this gave me the courage to believe in myself. By the
example of how she lives her life, she has taught me patience and
how to have faith when facing the unknown. My father taught me to be
diligent in seeking what is true and real in life. I
deeply value authenticity and am always looking to
understand life more deeply. My father taught me to value
my gifts and to be authentic and real every moment.
