|
The earliest I can think about Jesus is when I was about 5 or 6 years old, going to Rock Church in Virginia Beach, going to Sunday school, and brief memories of going to a house church with my family. After these memories I remember going to another church, Trinity Baptist Church, for Sunday school. Various things I participated in were Bible drills, different arts and crafts, and church services. I was involved in Cub Scouts at the church and was baptized on Scout Sunday.
After a change in pastors at that church, we did not feel close to the new pastor, so my family and I left the church. For a time we were unchurched, and I was not focused on God as I was when I was attending church. In my sophomore year of high school I fell into temptation and started smoking weed and participating in vandalism. At the end of my summer break of 1997 as I sat at a party, I smoked for the last time. I said I did not want to live this way in my life, having no control over what I was doing. I stopped smoking weed and started back at school for my junior year.

During the first month of that year, my friend Matt, whom I knew from the church we used to attend, invited me to his birthday party. When I was there, I met some people from Matt’s youth group. I started going to youth group here at Ingleside Baptist Church and met my good friend David, who led me to rededicate my life to Christ through his youth ministry. He baptized me again on Easter Sunday of 1998. I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1999 and attended college at TCC for a year, taking math courses. I graduated from ITT Technical Institute in September, 2002, with my Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and received my Bachelors Degree in Automated Manufacturing Technology in December of 2003 from ITT Technical Institute.
As I continue to grow in the Lord Jesus, I believe He has so many things still in store for me and for those whom God touches through me.
