GREAT NEWS!!!! After many years of allowing 14" trout to be taken (just as they reached reproductive size), the 12 mile stretch downstream from Hangman's Bridge to the Nevada border has been made CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY! starting April 29, 2000. It's also designated by California as a Wild and Scenic River. This part of the river is good now, but within 2-3 years this stretch should become really great! You'll want to start learning this section now, so here's some help:
