Denny gets ready to fish!

Hi, I'm Denny, and those are my hands around that fat Rainbow I was releasing! I've fished the areas of Alpine County, CA for over 20 years, and see it improving every year...So here's where you can find some good trout fishing action, and have a relaxing time too!

Are you a purist catch-and-release fly fisherman (person)? Or do you think Powerbait rules, and the only time you'll release a fish is into Hot Butter? Personally, I release most of the fish I catch, but occasionally one ends up in lemon butter with a little Chardonnay. And I really enjoy the solitude of Alpine County (population around 1200, the least populated county in all of California). Whatever your preference, the area near Markleeville has excellent trout fishing opportunities for all.

Where is Markleeville? Look on a California Map about 25 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe, on Highway 89. The tiny dot you see reflects the fact that Markleeville only has a population of around 250 people. That's the way I like it! So come along with me and discover a place you've probably never heard of...Alpine County!
