Tim Beeble's Fiat 124 Sport Spider - 1974
I bought this spider in 1978 in Paramus, New Jersey.  It was manufactured in October 1973 and is the 1974 model of the Fiat 124 Spider.  This was the first year of the 1756 cc engine, the last year of the light weight chrome bumpers.

Engine Modifications
The engine was re-built in 1998 with 10.5:1 high compression pistons, high performance valve springs and nimonic valves.  In 1999 dual Weber 40 IDF carburetors and free flow air filters were installed.  In 2001 performance cams and a Crane XR3000 electronic ignition were installed.  The Ansa free flow exhaust includes headers.  The car never required a catalytic converter or unleaded gasoline.  Now it demands 93 octane fuel.
The Suspension
In 1999 the suspension was over hauled with parts from International Auto Parts of Virginia.  This included a one-inch front anti-sway bar, a 5/8 inch rear sway bar, high performance springs that lowered the car a couple inches, new controller arms including ball joints and bushings.  The shocks date back to the late 70's and are the Bilstein gas shocks with a lifetime warrantee.  In Summer 2000 Bilstein honored the guarantee and rebuilt my shocks.  Now that is a company that stands behind its product!
