CHECK OUT SOME OF MY FAVORITE LINKS THAT HAVE HELPED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO ME DURING MY GENEOLOGY RESEARCH! THIS PAGE WILL BE CONSTANTLY CHANGING AS I INTRODUCE NEWLY DISCOVERED INFORMATION. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN ASSIST YOU...AND FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME ABOUT ANY OTHER FAMILY NAMES THAT HAVE BEEN PART OF THE HISTORY OF THIS FAMILY... 1 Travel with me through our 250 year history in the new land of America!... The Hinterschied (Hinnershitz) American saga begins in 1746 with the marriage of "Palentinats" Johann George Hintershied and Maria Catherine near the towns of Stolzenberg, where he was born and Feilbingert where he was baptized close by the Nahe River which is Southwest of Bingen on the Rhine River, Germany. They embarked on their journey, apparently while Maria Catherine carried their first child, to the new world on the ship Edinburgh via Rotterdam and landed in the port of Philadelphia, Pa. on September 15th, 1749.
After a brief time living in Philadelphia the family made their way west to the County of Berks, what is now Alsace and Muhlenburg Townships 2, near the city of Reading, Pa. which was originally called Finney's Ford until 1748 when it was founded by Thomas and Richard Penn, sons of William Penn, of Reading, England.
Son Jacob was born in February 1750, followed by the birth of their second child. George was born in 1751. The third child, a daughter, Maria was born in 1752. Followed by Conrad born in 1756. All the children grew to maturity in Alsace Township. Jacob and George remained as farmers working the land as did their father, Conrad may have gone to Bedford County, Pa. and Maria, after her marriage in Annville, Pa. to John Nichol Franz, moved to Dauphin Co, Pa.
Records show that Conrad was Baptised at Trininty Luthern Church in Reading, Pa. in 1765 at the age of nine. I have yet to find records of the other childrens Baptisms. Later Johann and Jacob, with others in their community were among the earliest members of Spies Church in Alsace Township. This church exists today after being rebuilt twice after lightning fires. The cemetary contains the remains of nearly every early family member. ...more to come.

Ida was one of 6 daughters of Benjamin Franklin B. and Mary Ann (Schmehl) Fies. Benjamin was the last Fies to operate the Fies Tavern on Antiedam Road in Alsace Township, Berks Co. Prior to that the Tavern was operated by Benjamin's father Peter Calvin Fies and Sarah Babb Fies. Peter was a Lt. in the Union Army at the time of the Civil War. Peter's father Abraham and his wife Elizabeth Zimmerman Fies present many unknowns. I do know that Abraham was a Pvt. in the 1st. Div. Penna. Volunteers for 4 months in 1814.... (My father Grandville recalled playing on the wide plank floors of the tavern as a very small child while visiting his grandparents, Benjamin and Mary Ann. Taking leave whenever a thirsty patron arrived. The Tavern still exists in Alsace Township and is privatly owned. It's a great country side historical building, re-built after a major fire about 1825.) ...ask me for more! John Phillip Hinnerschietz of Easton, Pa.
