About These Menus
The following menu plan was written for my husband and I to use this year.  We offer this menu plan merely as an example of how one couple eats during the OWL phase of Atkin's Diet. The Carbohydrate counts given are Carbohydrate grams minus Fiber grams. Some specialty items are less sugar alcohols, as well. Always be sure to double check my carb counts.

We occasionally eat various low carbohydrate products available to the consumer. These products effect each person differently and have been reported to stall weight loss in some individuals.  Rob and I are able to use them without difficulty, but if we hit a plateau they would be the first items restricted from our diet.

About Snacks
We scheduled these snacks to best fit our lifestyle. I tend to be an evening eater so I save  my snacks for after dinner.  Snack carbs are sometimes combined with meals but I have found that it is a good idea to keep some kind of low/no carb food at hand.  Some dieticians recommend 5-6 smalls meals a day to keep blood sugar stable. Having recently quit smoking,  keeping some nibbles around also helps me get through occasional nicotine pangs.

Lo Carb Ice Cream, Lo Carb treats (up to 3-4x a week)
Jerky, Meat Sticks, Lunch meats, Cheeses --  Up to 4 oz a day-- (4g carb)
Olives, Nuts, Nut Butter -- Up to 4 TB a day-- (4g carb)

Freebie Snacks: Any item
Fresh Meats, Poultry, Fish
1 Egg
Celery
Romaine Lettuce w/  1 TB vinegar
Up to 1TB of oil, mayo or butter
Diet Gelatin, 1/2c
