The coolest thing about collecting the old pulps are, yes, the covers. And wired Doc fans, led by Jeff Sines, have done a phenomenal job of making all of the pulp covers available for viewing online. Go to Jeff Sines' site immediately, if you have not seen these. The covers can also be seen in Larry Widen & Chris Miracle's black & white book Doc Savage: Arch Enemy of Evil. With all the attention the covers are getting, a whole cache of great Doc art has gone over-looked. You see, for the pulp reader, the artwork didn't end with the cover, as it does for the paperback reader -- Pulp stories were illustrated! And Doc Savage Magazine, for most of its run, was graced with the exciting linework of Paul Orban. Look around, but I think you'll also want to bookmark this page and come back when you're reading any of the stories I have links for below! I have posted every story-specific drawing (not the recurring character portraits) from every pulp that I have for the first three years, with more to follow.
