Vice President Helene Beck is also state licensed to rehabilitate wildlife but has a background in domestic animals as well and has worked with Saint Bernards for several years. Helene focuses her time on squirrels but is becoming well known in the Northern IL area as a bunny expert. The cottontail is one of the most difficult species to keep alive once removed from the mother’s nest and Helene has had a very successful 2002 season. Helene and her husband Don travel miles daily to rescue animals from all over Northern IL at all hours of the night. The S.A.F.E. Project is driven by her enthusiasm to go to any lengths to save the orphaned and injured.
