Our Motor Pool
Our Motor Pool
An Unofficial Provider of Motorized Transport for the
Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post 499
and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 499
of Gordon, Wisconsin
Our parade jeep is a type M38A1. Production of this model began in 1952 and continued through the early 1960s. M38A1 jeeps saw service in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Our jeep was built in 1955 and was on active duty with U.S. Army units until 1979, and finally received its discharge papers from the Reserves in 1984, making it a 29-year veteran.

It has now been restored to motor-pool condition,
including its original 1955 registration number of
"2A3514", as listed in the Army motor pool records that came with the jeep. Though it has been outfitted with four new military tires, it still carries one of its original 1952-dated tires as the spare. The engine, transmission and drivetrain are all original equipment.
The bumper markings have been applied in honor of a high school classmate who was killed in action in Vietnam. Carl was in Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion of the 12th Infantry Regiment, assigned to the 25th Infantry Division. This unit served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971.
Beginning in 2005, our jeep has carried Legion and Auxiliary members in parades in Gordon, Solon Springs and Superior. We hope to put it to even more use this year.
