The (-2G), etc., after the names indicates the number of generations before Erven Thoma Siblings born before Robert were Adelheid (Adeline) (b. 23 Apr. 1876), Hedwig (b. 13 Sept. 1877), Martha (b. in Jan/Feb 1880), Margaretha (b. 02 Sept. 1881), and William Richard (b. 19 May 1883) His birth is found in the St. Louis Birth Register for 30 May 1885. It lists his father, William, born in Germany and his mother, Martha, also born in Germany. It also gives his sex, the address of the family (1220 S. 9th St.), and the doctor's name. The address agrees with the address (1220 S. 9th St.) in the St. Louis City Directory for the same year (1885) and the next year (1886), for his father, a carpenter. Robert's death is in the St. Louis Death Register (#7155). He died of atrophy on 18 Oct. 1886 at the age of 1 year, 4 months, 15 days. The physician was Dr. Fred Schule and the undertaker was A. Meyer__(?). He was buried in Ste Peter and Paul Cemetery in section 9S, row 15, grave site 21 (lot PG) on the 19th of Oct. There is no grave stone or lot marker and the rows are not marked well enough to allow location of the grave. (Death Register vol. 19, p. 72; SLGS roll 320.) His address at death was 3811 Texas in St. Louis (in ward 21). The 1887 St. Louis City Directory lists his father as living at the rear apartment of 3811 Texas, but obviously the family moved there before Oct. 18 of the previous year.
