Timberwind - breeding for
good health and temperament above all, and to the AKC Belgian Tervuren standard. I
breed only occasionally, every few years or so, and each litter is carefully planned.
The goal is producing happy, healthy tervs with confident, outgoing temperaments
that make wonderful companions that can hopefully be competitive in the show ring
as well as being successful in the various performance arenas such as obedience,
agility, tracking, herding, etc. I like to produce tervs that can "do it
all" if their owner so chooses. But first and foremost they must be loving
family companions. |
Each
litter is a huge commitment of my time and energy, every free moment is devoted
to giving them the very best start in life that I can. Litters are raised in the
home and exposed to everyday life situations to begin the crucial socialization
process. Puppies are handled daily and given the appropriate exposures at each
age level, including lots of individual attention. They are taken places in the
car and exposed to different places and all ages of people. I find raising puppies
very rewarding even if it is lots of work - I love each and every one of them
and it is certainly hard to let them go! I
am responsible for each and every puppy I breed, for it's ENTIRE lifetime and
will take back a dog or help in the placement of any of the dogs I have bred,
at any age, if for some reason an owner cannot or chooses not to keep him/her.
I do not ship puppies, but I am willing to place a puppy with a qualified buyer
who is willing to fly to NY and fly back with the puppy. Timberwind is located
in Pleasant Valley, NY, about 2 hours north of New York City and just east of
Poughkeepsie. All
dogs in my breeding program have their health clearances (OFA hips and elbows,
CERF eye) and are seizure free. No dog is bred before it is 2 years of age. I
prefer my bitches to be champions and have at least one obedience degree before
being bred. Puppies are sold on contract to approved homes only. I have been a
member of the American Belgian Tervuren club since 1978 and subscribe to its Code
of Ethics. I also belong to the Berkshire Belgian Tervuren Club, the Taconic Hills
Kennel Club and the Hudson Valley Tracking Club. |
