First let me start by thanking each and every visitor for taking a moment to read more about this donation request for the Overnight Walk.

I know many of you are saying right now why am I here? Why did I get this link? What exactly is this all about.

Before I post my donation email request I figured let me start by answering a few brief questions.

First question is most likely what is this Out of the Dark Overnight Walk?
The Out of the Darkness Overnight is a 20-mile journey through the night, from dusk until dawn. It's a unique opportunity to help shed light on suicide, its impact and its prevention. We're bringing together friends, family members and loved ones whose lives have been touched by suicide or depression, and giving them a way to turn their heartbreak into hope for tomorrow. Net proceeds will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, to fund research, education, survivor and awareness programs - both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.

Why is Tina doing a 20 mile walk in San Franciso, Ca in July 2006?
This is in loving memory of Gene Bungay who I lost October 12, 2005.

Who is Gene to Tina & why is she walking for him?
Gene is my best friend, my love, my soul mate who I lost to suicide and was blessed to have him in my life for 19 years.

Now I will ask for a few more moments of your time to read the following request:

Dear Friends, Family, Strangers and all,

I will be joining with hundreds of people to walk 20 miles through the night in the Out of the Darkness Overnight to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Before you close the email and hit delete please take a moment and read as to why I am walking this walk. Please give me 5 minutes of your time.

I will be walking in loving memory of Gene Bungay and my personal fundraising goal is $5,000.00.  I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause.

As you most know I just lost my best friend, my love, my soul mate Gene to suicide on October 12, 2005 he was 29 years old. I was very blessed to have Gene in my life for 19 years.

For those of you who didn't know Gene he was a wonderful man. He was a gentle, kind-hearted, sincere, loving, giving, strong, protective, funny person. He had a huge caring heart.

I loved Gene for many years and I always promised to love him. He will be in my heart forever. This is my main reason for doing this 20 mile walk in San Francisco in July 2006. As a sign of love to walk in memory of him. Just another way to have Gene's memory live on.

Losing Gene was the worst thing that has happened in my life. To lose an amazing person like Gene to suicide has been so tragic. This is the worst pain in the world. Losing a loved one is always hard but to lose them to suicide is simply horrible. Words can't express the unbearable, never-ending pain. If you personally have been affected by Gene's passing, you know exactly the pain I am speaking of. And those of you who didn't know Gene but maybe you have lost someone to suicide, again you know the horrible pain I speak of and my heart goes out to you. For those of you who have been lucky enough not to suffer with such a lose I envy you and never wish this pain on anyone.

My life will never be the same again. But I can only have hope & faith that the days will get better. Although I know my life is forever changed I want only positive results to come out of this tragic event. And this 20 mile walk is one of them. I kindly ask that you make a donation today in memory of Gene and all those lost to suicide.

Every 18 minutes someone in the US dies by suicide. There needs to be more awareness worldwide for suicide prevention. There needs to be more intensive treatment for people who suffer with depression, bipolar and many other mental disabilities. Studies show 90% of all people who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death most often depression or bipolar disorder. Also 80% of all people who have committed suicide have threatened to do so or have had previous attempts. In addition a large percent of people who die by suicide or attempt suicide also suffer with addiction.

I, myself have been suffering with severe depression for many years. It wasn't until I lost Gene that I started to seek treatment. Gene always asked of me to do this so that we both could work on a better healthy life. It wasn't until I went to seek treatment that I was told I too suffer with bipolar disorder. Gene was truly the only person who knew me, understood me completely, who could relate to me. When he left he took half of me with him. I feel lost, empty, like half of my soul is gone. I lost my other half and now I don't have him to turn to anymore.

We made promises to each other. We had plans to better our lives. We had goals and while I am here I will follow thru with our plans of a good healthy life. Although he is gone he is with me in spirit and this is what gets me through. His spirit will guide me through this 20 mile journey.

So I kindly ask of you to please make a donation today for this overnight walk. Please help me keep Gene's memory alive. My fund raising goal is $5000 and of course I am in high hopes to exceed that amount. So please help support me today in reaching  this $5000 goal. I am extremely grateful for  your donation today. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this. I thank you for being so kind in making a donation in memory of Gene. Also please feel free to view a web site I have created in loving memory of Gene at www.gene-bungay.memory-of.com. You can read more about Gene, view pictures, light candles and write messages.

Once again thank you for taking a moment to read this important email. I ask that you also find it in your heart to pass this donation request along to your family & friends in hopes that they too will be generous like yourself and make a donation. People have asked is there a set amount you are requesting per person? My answer to this is of course the more you can donate is much appreciated since this goal is $5000. But what ever a person can afford to donate is very much appreciated.
