MUSIC++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ the robert black band(from left to right:)
Our good friend and bass player, Frank Lemery, has decided to leave the band to pursue other projects. His parting was amicable, and he truly honored himself by being completely professional right through his last gig with us. The band wants to thank him for his outstanding work, and we wish him much success in all his future endeavors. In the meantime, Robert, Paul and I are sharing the bass duties until we find the right guy to replace Frank. It's been much easier than we thought it would be, primarily because we had no idea Paul was as good a bass player as he is a sax player. We have been forced to do some sequencing of keyboard parts on some of the more intricate tunes, but it's worked out quite well. And as we are getting more gigs every week, we have no doubt that we will soon find the bass player that's meant for us.
BAND SCHEDULE
New dates are already in the works, soon to be announced. Check back for updates. And all dates are subject to change, without prior notice.
HOURGLASS
In addition to the band, Robert and I have been performing as a duo called Hourglass, something we've done on and off for the past 10 years. This is just an indulgent project, allowing us to do songs we could never do in the band. Here's our schedule as of this writing:
It appears as though Hourglass will be going on another hiatus. As the band works more, we are less inclined to do Hourglass, especially because the music we do with the band puts far more strain on Robert's voice. The band has always been our first priority, anyway. Hourglass will continue to appear from time to time, like a bird that comes to rest in a tree now and then. And we'll probably be at Copperfield's!
CHEAP DATESBesides working with the Robert Black Band and Hourglass, I've recently hooked up with another musician buddy, Nick Rossi, of a popular local band called Crossroads, and we've put together a duo called Cheap Dates. We're doing some classic rock, some current alternative, and a bit of clowning around, AND having some great fun in the process. Our schedule so far:
Cheap Dates will be taking up the slack from Hourglass, and more dates are in the works, so check in regularly.
RECEPTIONRECEPTION is a collection of instrumental songs I recorded several years ago. The project took about a year to finish, and after the final mix-down session, I thought it was finally done. Alas, after a break of a few weeks, I went back to listen to the master tape, and, lo-and-behold, in one of the songs was a massive drop-out, the result of a bad spot on the tape. Obviously, I was one un-happy camper. I shelved the project, because I just didn't have the energy for it anymore. Now, with the miracle of digital editing, I have been able to restore the bad spot and put the damn thing to rest, once and for all. The CD shouldl be available by summer's end. If you would like a copy, email me for ordering instructions and price. I promise you won't have to take out a loan to afford the disc.
I am also focusing on writing and recording music geared toward film and other multi-media projects (such as PC games), so if you happen to be looking for music of this type, do not hesitate to contact me -- I need all the work I can get.
