Welcome to the King Khalid International Airport home page!
Purpose of this Page
The purpose of this page is to re-unite any armed forces members who were stationed at "KKIA" during the Persian Gulf war from 1990-1991. Units from Great Britain, France, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the United States shared the compound and facilities there at the airport. A U.S. Army anti-missile battery was quite active during the Iraqi 'scud' alerts.
The 1611 AES is a composite Air Force squadron made up of members of Active, National Guard and Reserve squadrons. The first members (including myself) were volunteers who came prior to becoming activated. Aircrews from all over the country came during Desert Shield and Storm. At the height of the build-up in late 1990, this squadron grew to about 1400 members in 22 different locations in 5 countries.
