As we approached an anchorage in Green Inlet, I warned Shawn to watch out for the bobbing log in the middle of the inlet.  The log was moving at about six knots!  Of course that "log" was a brown bear, swimming across the inlet.  We also saw countless bald eagles and whales throughout the voyage.  The whales were harder to capture in digital photos, and the orcas were nearly impossible to catch.  They just move too fast.

In Port McNeill, we read notices to boaters warning us about "Springer," the orphaned orca who likes to rub against boats.  Some of Springer's buddies did come perilously close to us in that area.  They were too quick for photos, but they were magnificent.  We could hear their "clicking" sounds as they swished under us.  For Springer's story and some amazing footage, click here.
