East of Eden
Story: Based on the Steinbeck novel of the same
title wherin a young man feels unloved by his father, a Salinas Valley
businessman, and his rivalry with his brother. This was James Dean's first
starring role.
Scenery: The story is set in Salinas and much
of it was filmed in Salinas and the Salinas Valley. The segments depicting
old downtown Monterey were actually filmed in Mendocino.
