The Hectite Tradition began by the combined effort of it's three founders, in New York City in the fall of 1982.
During an open meeting, outside of The Magickal Childe, a shoppe on West 19th Street, two of the men first met, went to lunch, and became intrigued by each others backgrounds. Making plans to meet again for lunch the following Sunday, they each wanted to introduce a good friend to the other. Reservations for four were made in the Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel, but as it turned out only three seats would be needed because they each shared the same friend.
All three founders began as solitaries and later became involved in seperate traditions, where they each completed third degree training. After some very long discussions, they decided to start their own coven, blending the word of mouth teaching they each recieved as well as the spirituality of the backgrounds they each came from, those being Kabala, Ancient Greek Rites and Etruscan Magick,or better known as Strega, the Hectite Tradition was created.
Shortly after, their coven "The Knights of Hecate" was formed and an extensive Book of Shadows was written, which continued to grow throughout the years. Very little, aside from the basics was retained from the original traditions the men came from, out of respect for those traditions. One of the major tenents we hold to is "If you steal it,it won't do you any good anyway".
The circle continued to flourish throughout the 1990's, but in early 2001, the founders decided to go their separate ways. Currently a few covens "hived off" from the original, and are active within the Hectite Tradition in NY and NJ. Unfortunately, one of the founders perished in the WTC on September 11 2001, the other moved to Florida shortly thereafter, where a Hectite coven is forming, and I relocated to the west coast.
I currently live in Southern California, with my partner who is active as an elder in his traditional coven in San Diego. It is my hope to have The Triad Brotherhood as true to form here on the west coast, as it's parent coven in NYC.
