BOARD MEMBERS, 2003-2004

NITA SMOTHERS
Two of our directors, Randy and Nita Smothers are husband and wife.  They have both worked with the physically and mentally challenged while employed by Transitional Living in Tulsa.  After this they headed up the Pastoral Care Ministries at Higher Dimensions Family Church where they administrated the Raven’s Nest feeding program, oversaw benevolence giving and conducted and coordinated the interpersonal ministry for the 4,000 member church. In addition to this, Nita has also been on staff at Tulsa’s Little Lighthouse, a non-profit school for mentally and physically challenged children.

RANDY SMOTHERS
Along with his wife, Nita, Randy has worked with the physically and mentally challenged at Transitional Living Corporation. He served for 7 years as the head pastor of Higher Dimensions Family Church’s Pastoral Care department.  Randy also has over 10 years experience in youth ministry and counseling.  He also served as a campus minister at the University of Oklahoma where he worked with students and athletes. The author of several inspirational books, Randy currently travels as an inspirational speaker and pastors a church in West Tulsa.

ROBERT REED
Board of Directors member Robert Reed began his tenure as the Executive Director of the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra in 1997.  Robert is the first African American to hold the position of Executive Director in the 50-year history of the Tulsa Philharmonic.  He has introduced innovative new series geared towards children and young adults that have received national attention. Since he has been in Tulsa, Robert has greatly increased the Orchestra’s educational and community outreach programs. He has continued his service on the Triqueta Board since the time the Philharmonic was unfortunately dissolved.

BISHOP GARY MCINTOSH
Board of Directors member Bishop Gary McIntosh is one of the founders of Nation’s largest and most successful integrated churches.  After serving over 15 years as Associate Pastor of Higher Dimensions Family Church where he developed the nationwide Azusa Network of Churches, Bishop McIntosh founded the Greenwood Christian Center in innercity Tulsa.  This multi-faceted ministry was built around the history of Tulsa, placing a great deal of emphasis on the affect the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 had on our city’s collective consciousness.  As the visionary behind the Greenwood Christian Center, Bishop McIntosh is actively developing many community help programs aimed particularly at the North Tulsa population.

GARY GOREE
Board of Directors member Gary Goree is a long time Fine Arts Coordinator for the Tulsa Public School System. His skill in coordinating the Tulsa Arts Community with the students of the school system has been an invaluable tool for Triqueta’s projects and programs in the past.  Gary has built an incredible reputation for bringing students into the world of Tulsa’s Fine Arts community, and in bringing some of Oklahoma’s most noted artists into the classrooms of the Tulsa Public Schools.

DR. SCOTT ELLSWORTH
Board member (Advisory) Dr. Scott Ellsworth is considered the definitive historian of the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921.  Dr. Ellsworth was born and raised in Tulsa.  He was formerly a historian at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institute.  His influence and expertise in the area of the Tulsa Race Riot has proven very beneficial in relation to our production of “A Song of Greenwood.”
