"Sooner or later there will be another ‘Rent’ and Tulsa’s Triqueta Creative Group has a contender in its hip-hop Musical ‘Roofless’”
--- The Dallas Morning News

ROOFLESS A HIP-HOP MUSICAL

What's the musical about?

High above the ever-prevalent trouble of the inner city, a group of creative teenagers find an energizing solace in their rooftop sanctuary.  It is a twilight world hidden from the voyeurism of a city hungry for what they possess--- a hyper-creativity born of harsh realities.  These kids are real…and their talent is real.  In a generation of consumers whose first musical language has become hip-hop, this untapped pool of potential profitability exists unspoiled.....that is until enterprising television reporter Pamela Stone discovers the group of young people.

"Exposure"  the first step towards “The Big Break.”
And if exposure isn’t desired…the break can always be forced.

The myriad of issues facing America’s creative young people is explored in this high-energy celebration of the angst and ascension of the hip-hop generation.  A mind-expanding blend of old and new musical styles make “Roofless” a cutting edge musical theatre experience that has critics and audiences raving.   “Roofless” is truly a product of the next generation of Musical Theatre storytellers.

The musical was workshopped throughout 2001. "Roofless" premiered in 2002 in Tulsa with an impressive cast of Tulsa’s finest young artists and was fully staged twice in 2003 in both Tulsa and Dallas, “Roofless” has received a myriad of positive critical reviews. Audiences, too, have expressed exuberant praise for the show. To date, “Roofless” has received standing ovations after each of it's limited 24 performances.  Creators Tim Long and Jerome Johnson are now in the process of getting the show into the mainstream world of Musical Theatre.
UPDATE: In December of 2004 "Roofless" was selected as one of four new American Musicals to be workshopped by Stephen Schwartz, the Tony & Grammy-winning composer of hit Musicals: "Wicked," "Godspell," "Pippin," Dreamwork's "The Prince of Egypt" and Disney's "Pocahontas" and "Hunchback of Notre Dame."
