Area Meetings
The heart of every local car club is the monthly meeting. You don't have to own a Westfield, or even bring yours along to enjoy this get together. It's just a couple of hours to share your hobby with like minded people (!)
This area has moved to a new venue for 2004:

The Highwayman Pub
(The one with a Stagecoach in the car park!)
on the A417, Elkstone
(Near Cirencester)

Last Thursday of each month
Starts around 7pm
Driving Tours

Sharing the events with members from other areas, we run various road tours in the Summer. In Aug 2003 we ran a Cotswold Tour  with 17 Westies enjoying (?) the 35 deg heat! Nobody broke down over the 140 mile route (well no cars did anyway!). All routes have maps (tulip style) for easy navigation. This is not a race, just an excuse to get out onto quiet roads to enjoy the scenery.

Castle Combe Circuit
Is a popular haunt for the area club.
We attend the Action Days offered to local clubs
for free. Around 3 times each year we get 12 free
entry passes including reserved space in the
paddock. The Action Days in April & June can be
a little scary if you're not experienced on a busy
track. The Classic & Sportscar event held in early
September is a little more civilised. Many just
come along to meet up in the paddock & watch
the fun on the track. We also try to get to other
local circuits such as Thruxton & Llandow,
Prescott Hillclimb,  even European Circuits!
Shows & Gatherings
Lots of outdoor car shows are run across the South West. We attend, often in smaller groups because of the limits set by the organisers (around 4 to 10 cars). The Castle Combe action days are a good meeting point, even for those that don't want to go on the track, but fancy a run out with the added bonus of being able to watch the antics on the track & buy a few bits from the motorsport shops & stalls. There are national shows to attend such as the Donnington, Stoneleigh & Exeter kit car shows where WSCC members from across the country gather in their dozens.
In Winter we arrange visits to places such as Motorsport Engineers (e.g. Lola factory), local services, restorers and engineering works.
Airfield Days
Are the most popular event for our area. We are spoilt by having so many good airfiled circuits within a 50 mile radius such as Kemble, Keevil & Hullavington. The wide expanse of tarmac is one of the few places where you can open up an truly explore the limits of your car and your own ability! For those that wish to hone their skills, we always have a couple of ARDS qualified instructors who (for a small fee) will sit in and watch/coach you to perfection! All events are run by a 3rd party specialist to ensure safety and that everyone behaves (if you drive recklessly, you get sent home!).
Karting
In the Winter months when most of the members tuck their cars away from the grim weather, we often 'scratch the itch' by challenging the neighbouring areas to a karting event. Endurance or full race options available, but we also go 'Ice Karting' at Bristol Ice Rink - YES! Karting on ice with studded tyres! More skill than speed with the kart constantly sliding - very useful for honing those skills (although a little hairier in a Westie).
So now you've seen what we do, why not come & join us?
